Yes. Alcohol is a drug. Alcohol impairs your judgment and reactions, changes how you think and act, etc. It can also cause damage just as abuse of other drugs can. Just because it is legal does not mean it is not a drug.

Yes, in the general sense that any substance that effects your mental state or metabolism is classified as a drug. That includes caffeine, for that matter. This term can be somewhat deceptive, however. There is a growing movement of anti-alcohol bigotry in the U.S. which views all beer, wine, and strong spirits as nothing more than drugs and tries to regulate them as such. People from MADD and the politicians they support literally see no difference between a glass of wine and a syringe filled with heroin. More sophisticated countries like ones in continental Europe sensibly classify and regulate such beverages as foods. Think about it, if all drinkers wanted to do was get drunk, they would just buy cheap pure ethanol and not bother paying so much money for an imported beer or bottle of French wine, or a 20 year old bottle of single malt scotch. When's the last time you've heard of a crack, meth, or heroin connaisseur worrying about which brand of his drugs go properly with his meal?

Yes, it's considered a drug. Not that it's a bad thing if you drink responsibly (not to excess, and for everyone's safety don't get behind the wheel). It can help you loosen up in social situations, but at the same time know your limit so you don't make a fool of yourself if you're trying to make an impression.

Of course. It is also very addicting if you drink all the time. It slows you thoughts processes and if you drink and drive you could go to jail. Read up on alcoholism if you have any doubts.

NO Moderate quantity of alcohol is realy a medicine and is well described and used in ayurveda. even most of the modern day medicines are alcohol based. Power is not there in a fire arm it is there in the holder applies to alcohol also. I myself use straight Rum 120 ml. as medicine for sciatica and never am addict (may be I have to drink when a sciatic attack pops up and it becomes a compulsion which had made me avoid alcoholic drinks also)
