Some say that you should never clear your throat, but excess mucous inhibits free vocal cord coordination. The trick is to find a way to clear your throat without irritating it. Do a gentle "whispered cough" (without tone) and then swallow. Repeat. If this doesn't work, you need to deal with the excess mucous production. Squeeze a 1/4 of a lemon in a tall glass of water and sip over about 20 minutes. This should cut through a lot of the excess mucous. Furthermore, watch your dairy intake... especially cheese. You should never eat it on the day of a performance!...
Okay there you go!
GOOD LUCK

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://biturl.im/aULYf
Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.
Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

Lemons are an excellent way to clear your throat and get your voice ready for singing. I took voice lessons for over twelve years, and my instructor had me use lemons before any vocal competition I was in. I usually made hot tea and added lemon juice to it (no sweetener or sugar). If you're brave, you could also suck on a lemon or drink some plain lemon juice. Dairy products should be avoided. Also, make sure you warm up your voice before singing, generally for 30 to 45 minutes. Doing this will help prevent damage to your vocal cords.

Drink hot sprite with lemon in it. Sounds gross, works great. I used to use it before speech tournaments if I had a scratchy throat. Don't eat anything spicy, it will irritate your throat and make it much harder to sing. Also, milk can build up and get thick in your throat, making it harder to sing.
