It is very important. One thing people forget is that they themselves know what they are talking about but, other people may not. Communication means the passing of information and ideas. If you communicate well, people will understand what your idea is and will act better accordingly. You will get results faster and more efficient.
Some examples where good communication plays a vital role are:
1) relationships: If you can't communicate with your partner you will have a misserable relationship. This goes for any type of relationship whether is father to son, friend to friend, husband to wife brother to brother etc etc.
2) In bussiness. If you don't communicate well, your client may get the wrong idea about what you are offering them. If they understood one thing but you deliver something different from what they understood from you then you may loose a customer.
3) Enforcement or emergency personel. If there is an emergency people need to communicate well to get coordinated.
4) in the health system. You have to make sure the nurse understand clearly what the doctors instructions where. For example, if he says mark the right leg for amputation then the message was clear that it is not the left leg.
The list is really endless.

If you can not express you views and thoughts in an organized way even if the are good the person you are telling will never know. Communicating. If you say one thing but mean something else it changes the whole meaning of the statement. think about it. you call in to make a donation and you want to give say 10 but somehow it comes out different to the person on the phone well you can take it from there. You need to be able to communicate or no one will know what you mean.

Probably one of the most important skills ever! Once you take a couple communication/speech classes, you realize how horrible most people's communication skills are. I swear, I wish they were mandatory in every workplace & grade school because after you learn what real effective communication is, you see how uneffective most people's communication skills are.
Case in point.....look at our crazy world now full of miscommunication, which results in wars, violence, and what not. That is the importance of communication skills, and proof that our world's communication sucks!
It's one of the most important (if not the most important) skills we will ever learn...or better said, the most important skill most of us WON'T learn

If there is a failure to communicate then there will be no solution to the problem at hand because you don't know what the other person is going through, and talking about it is the only way to know
