She got us a really great gift for our new home, and I just didn't know if I should send a thank you to her....in addition she got us the house for $7500 under appraisal.

First, I 'm pretty sure they cannot legally accept gifts.
Second, the commission she recieved from selling the home is gift enough. Her stunning job of assisting you predominantly served the purpose of achieving this aim. The "above and beyond service" is her job.

First and foremost Realtors CAN accept gifts although not necessary. For the most part, our job is to negotiate the best deal possible for you. The money we make has no bearing on us deserving a gift or not because JUST LIKE THE REST OF YOU.... we deserve to get paid for our work. And unlike most people, we get paid ONLY when we get our job done. But on that note, your referrals, a thank you note, even an email expressing your gratitude would be great! There are a lot of us that go above an beyond the call of duty and as a general rule, you should always give credit where credit is due. Can't stress enough that your referrals are the best form of gratitude! I'm so happy to hear you had a good experience! I'm sure your Realtor would really appreciate a nice thank you letter.. especially in today's market! We can use some encouragement! :)

Really she should be giving you the gift, a housewarming gift. But I know what you mean, when someone seems to go beyond the call of duty, it is natural to want to thank them with a gift. Do what your heart says. If it makes you feel good, it is a good thing and I am sure she would appreciate it.

Harry and David have great gifts of delicious fruits, nuts, candies and snacks delivered with taste and grace...check it out and YaY! Congratulations on your new home!

Many years ago I worked in real estate. I helped a family get a real nice repo home for about $7,000 below market value. They bought me Dinner at a nice restaurant. That was special and the only time anything like that ever happened.
But, I not know what would be good as a lasting gift. Maybe a Texas Instruments BA II Plus calculator as it do Amortizations, but, odds are she already have one as I did and still do.

You do not need to buy your real estate agent a gift. The thousands and thousands of dollars she made on the purchase is gift enough.

She may well be a nice person, and may well have helped you out, but she was not going above and beyond for nothing.

I do not believe that a real estate agent can accept any gifts, there is a code of ethics that has to be followed.

Congradulations on your new home.

A bunch of flowers is really enough ~ along with your thanks and a promise to direct any friends interested in buying or selling her way!

She will receive a commission for selling your home, it's true, but a gesture of appreciation is always apprreciated, especially as you say she went 'above and beyond'.

A more 'formal' gift would not be so appropriate, however, as there may be regulations covering her acceptance of gifts.

Cheers :-)

Don't worry. You gave her the gift of thousands of dollars by buying a home through her. No need to give her any more. In fact she needs to buy you something.

Why do you feel the need to buy someone something when they did a job to make money? She knows how to treat customers so she will make the sell. Don't think that she did it out of the kindness of her heart.

She should give you a gift. You just made her some good money.
If you really want to do something nice for her, give her a gift certificate to a restaurant, or bake her some goodies.

Send her a thank you card. The agent is the one who should buy you a housewarming gift.

They can accept personal gifts, however the seller paid a good % for her help, so it wasn't done out of the goodness of her heart.
I'd say a nice gift cert. for two for dinner at a good steakhouse would be appreciate, send it in a thank you card.
