I have been wanting highlights for a long time now and i have saved up my money for months. I can aford to get a tiny bit of blond highlights for my dark brown hair but i cant get my mom to agree. She says if i convence her it is reasonable i can get them. Do you know how i can get her to let me do that harmless thing? I dont want them very heavly or chunky. Does any one have a good reason why i should have the freedom to do what i want to my hair? Thx so much, god bless.

I'm sorry but you need to listen to your mother, Girls damage their hair all the time with dyeing it, straightening it, and all the other hair care products, I'm not saying it is bad what I am saying is you will start damaging your hair soon enough be happy with your natural hair as long as passable it is the best.

Well, I have never had highlights or had my hair dyed in my lifetime. I am 15 years old. My mom might think that it is okay for me to do that now, but when I was 12, she would have said no. But I know that my cousin, who is 12 now got highlights last year. Pink and blond highlights hehe. She wanted them so badly and got them and in the end, she got tired of them. It all depends on ur mother. Some moms will say yes, others no. I think that if you tried to explain that some other kids have highlights and it isn't as bad as like putting on lots of makeup or sth, she would relent in the end. Tell her that you really want to do this and there is really no harm in it at all. I don'y know if I helped, but really, in the end it just depends on how relenting your mom is. Okay good luck!! :)

I hate to tell you hon, but the truth of the matter is, it's not harmless. Number 1, the bleach they use to put the blond in your hair actually puts holes in it. That's what makes the hair reflect light so it looks blond. Number 2, if you haven't started your period yet, the results are too iffy. Any chemical treatment could come out different. It would be better to wait at least until you're 14.

Sarah, using hair coloring is for attracting potential mates. You really are too young for that. Few young women use highlights, frosting, tinting, or bleaching, because of the financial commitment they require to maintain the condition of your hair after wards. Having been a hairdresser since 1970, I have done a wide variety of hair coloring designs for men and women. It implies a certain kind of maturity. You also don't need that at your age.

Study hard, and when you really can afford to maintain your hair, then start doing it. Have fun in life.

nicely, the two my mom and my aunt & uncle r hairstylists, so i assume i'm an exception. I first have been given my highlights while i became into 6 and that they have got been extremely high quality, organic looking, not stripey. I had darkish darkish darkish brown hair and that i've got been given darkish cinnamon colored highlights so while it grew out, it nevertheless regarded ok, not extraordinary. It became into purely for relaxing tho, me & my aunt became into bored. And now i've got been doing to dozens of cases, yet I merely enable it develop out. i'm 12 now additionally, and that i've got have been given brown, and burgendy sorta colored, i think of I spelled tht incorrect btw. yet i exploit like, shade depositing/ nourishing shampoo/conditioner and a depart in conditioner so my hair is extremely healthful. If u want extremely thick hair, u would desire to w8. i individually do unlike thick hair, so I hve my mom skinny out my hair to offer th phantasm that i don't hve thick hair. :)

I had some really natural, pretty ones when I was 12. I've always been very pale, with dark brown hair, and my mom suggested them so that I wouldn't always look so pale and unhealthy. They really brighten up your face and give you a slightly healthier sort of look.

dont choose a colour that is far from your natural colour, just a shade up, start off small, and work you way up. ; )
tell her that you will just try a little and if she doesnt like it she can dye it back. but as soon as you get it talk about how much you like them, and then your mom will probly realise how happy you are with them and wont make you dye it back\i had the same kind of mom, trust me that works

it isn't reasonable. you will understand this in a few years. 12 year old girls with highlights or dyed hair look tacky. wait until 8th grade.
