Yes there is service available but as others have said it is very expensive if you are using the ship's satellite service. If you are boarding in a US port you can get service while on the ship as long as the ship is in, or very near that port city. But after that if you want to stay connected you will be going through the ship's high dollar service.

My advice is to contact your cell phone carrier and find out if they offer service in each of the port stops your cruise will make. Then when the ship is in that port city you can make a call through your regular carrier, hopefully.

If your cell service is not offered, there are always land line phone near the port; the crew will get off ship to use them so follow the crew if the phones are not right in sight. You need to buy a phone either in the port city or before you go to use these phones and not worry about having the right change.

Yes, there is good phone service on cruises. Nowdays they use satellite phones and have many onboard locations to make calls. Just like using a payphone. Have a great trip!!

There is phone service on the ship. It is very costly through. You can use your cell phone on some ships. The cost is like 2.49 a min. We use our text messages and if you have a package it is only what your cost is

Phone service on a cruise ship is very expensive if you use the ship's phone and expensive if you access your cell phone though the cell tower on the ship.

Yes, it is expensive, but not as expensive as a ship to shore call. I know T-Mobile has information on their website, like what it costs and that you should turn international calling on. Not sure on other carriers though.
