It's a nice thought. It's too bad the ones padding the Senators' palms would never agree to it. This would eat into their profits.

First we need to get a President who stands up for the US Constitution and the citizens of the US. Then we need to replace Senators and Representatives who are not representing the voice of the people.

Then we can end NAFTA, CAFTA, SPP, NAU, Real ID, VeriChip, government spying, illegal aliens, UN, and all of the other things that are taking away the rights and freedoms of the American people.

One step at a time - beginning with a president who gives us back our US Constitution with truth, liberty and justice for all US citizens.

I think it would drive home the idea that US citizens are not impressed with NAFTA and SPP with legislators. Those facing re-elections might be forced to pay heed if enough referendums were passed denouncing both.
Such major actions as NAFTA and SPP and any future attempts to create a NAU should have been placed before the voters anyway. Special interest groups have too much influence on Congress for such issues to be left to them alone. I just wonder how many of those who find themselves ousted over their support of NAFTA, SPP, amnesty to illegals will not care because of their own profiteering from it?

No. Not in the US. where they have passed referendums against wire-tapping, e-mail snooping, the war in Iraq and many other things. The Federal government does not take the will of the people into account in its decision making. Representative government is in great danger.
