The federal gun laws apply equally to green card holders and citizens. Non-immigrant aliens do not have the right to own guns, unless they have a hunting license. However, some states have additional laws restricting non-citizens from owning guns. The source link below gives the state-by-state breakdown, for most of the states.

A legal permanent resident alien (LAPR) can purchase and own a firearm as long as it is legal to do so within the jurisdiction in which you reside. Federal law does not prohibit a LAPR from purchasing or possessing a firearm.

Now, having said that, I cannot stress it strongly enough... get some training. As a firearms instructor of many years I can tell you that you will enjoy the sport more fully and you will be much safer with a proper education. Far too many people obtained their education watching TV.

Good luck, be safe and enjoy.

You have to ask the law enforcement in your area whether you are eligible for carry. Each state and city is different. Some areas are specific and allow only business owners to have carry permits.

There are different types of permits and different state rules. You will only get the accurate information if you ask where you live. There is probably a website so look it up.

Sorry no you can't. Green card is only temporary. The Us Constitution only covers citizens. Once you receive your permanent citizens papers then you have all the rights of citizen. You can buy one illegally but if you break the law you can be deported.

It depends on what state AND city you live in. Check the NRA website, they would have the info you need.

There is no such thing as a "permanent green card" and you do not need a gun.
