My garage has been working fine and then without warning, it broke! I used my opener to back out of the garage and I heard creaking. The garage door was coming off the hinges. I had to prop up the door to get my car out. I would like to know on average how much it will cost to fix. Should I replace the door or get a brand new one? Thanks!

I think I may have mis spoke when I was talking about the door coming off the hinges. The garage door slides on 2 metal things when it's opening and closing. It looks like it came off the tracks. While it was coming off the tracks, one of the tracks that's nailed to the wall came off the wall. I hope this clarifies things.

No do not buy a new door. This is a very simple fix. the door can be bolted to the hinges with carriage bolts. This should cost you about $5.00 in material and about $30.00 in labor.
Of course it depends where you live.
If you are handy you could do it yourself.
Good luck

If the screws just pulled out of the holes in the wood, then you can plug the holes with small pieces of wood, like a thin dowel or golf tees or any little chunks of wood that you can shave down and drive into the hole. use a little glue in the hole too. then just carefully screw the screws back in place. Make the screw tight, but don't over tighten, if you strip out the threads again the door will come lose again.

Look in the yellow pages for garage doors or in the business section of your phone book. Check to see if you have a company called" Overhead Door ". they should be able to help you.
