1 Corinthians 8:9-12

— by thinking primarily of yourself? Or do you consider how your actions will affect the faith and lives of others? Just as we have to discipline our conscience for it to grow stronger, we must use discernment to avoid wounding a weaker believer.

Because our faith is on display before the world, God promises rewards but insists on responsibility. One of the rewards is freedom from condemnation. But that freedom doesn’t mean license to do as we please without considering those who watch our example. Through the Spirit, we must discern the greater good and act on it.

My husband and I really try and pray diligently about most of our decisions in our lives. Even if it has no bearing on our walk with God, we usually still talk to God about it.

Well, I would like to think that I ALWAYS depend on God--whether through the discernment of the Holy Spirit or through the knowledge of the Word and line up what I do with that--but I'm sure I don't. I'm sure I fall short. I'm sure I walk in the flesh and my own understanding.

I am growing and God is shaping me day by day. God is forming in me a conscience that is more aware of how my actions, behaviors, attitudes and words impact others.

My goal is to be pleasing to God and help others to come to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus. I think when our motivations and heart are pure we have a better chance of "doing the right thing for the right reasons".

To answer your question: Yes, I do my best to consider other's faith but sometimes I fall short.

Most of my decisions are based on a gut feel which I believe is how my heart is talking to me concerning the situation that I am facing.
Example: Several years ago my family and I lived at and worked at a Rescue Mission where we helped feed and clothe the poor & needy. One day a man came in for food, he said he had been kicked out of his house by his girlfriend and just needed some help for a few days. He was neatly dressed and had a pleasant appearance but my guts were in termoil. I had my 10 year old daughter with me and told her to stay behind the counter, I would be right back with the package of food for homeless people. As I took a step toward the steps I sensed a very strong caution inside me so I turned to my daughter and said Jess you go downstairs and get the homeless package, which she did and we sent him on his way. WAIT the story is not over Yet!
The very next day 4 detectives came flying into the parking lot waving pictures of this man who I had helped just the day before. They said he is an ESCAPED CONVICT and is armed and dangerous, do not leave your children unattended at any time and if you see him contact us immediately! My blood ran cold and then I remembered how God had protected my daughter by giving me that strong caution in my gut at that very moment of impending danger. The moral of the story is always follow your gut, your conscience, your heart. God wants the best for you and He will guide you from the inside!

Very true.

The book of Romans is all about it, especially chapter 14. So are many of Paul's and Jesus's words.

I try to approach all things, thinking first of Jesus and then of people. Of course people are His heart, so what He wants is what's in the best interest of others, so it all pretty much works together. Of course I cannot do it without Him.

Many blessings.

I try to base my decision on what God would have me to do.If its based on what I want, or what others might want or think, then I will find that I have made the wrong decision for all that are involved.

You know if I had to consult an imaginary, invisible creature everytime I had to choose, with cheese or without, I would never get anything done. it is truly a miracle that some of you lot manage to dress yourselves in the morning.

"I make no decisions until I consult God. "
