He's just trying to make an example of how messed up our legal system is, that someone can file such an absurdly insane suite.

He's not doing it for the PURPOSE of really suing God. It's not a statement about religion on his part. What he's doing is actually a protest against the justice system, showing that anyone can bring any sort of ridiculous lawsuit to court, and the court will take it seriously. Millions of dollars of taxpayer money is wasted on this sort of nonsense every year.
That's his point.

I notice that you left out the POINT that he was trying to make...
State Sen. Ernie Chambers is suing God. He said on Monday that it is to prove a point about frivolous lawsuits.
Chambers said senators periodically have offered bills prohibiting the filing of certain types of suits. He said his main objection is that the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all.
"Thus anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody -- even God," Chambers said.
Chambers said he decided to file the lawsuit after a suit was filed in early September in federal court against Lancaster County Judge Jeffre Cheuvront. He's the judge who was hearing a sexual assault case in which the plaintiff wants to use the words rape and victim during her testimony.

Hey, the Knights of Columbus can lobby for god on the money, what's bad about this suit?
I hope it gets class action status:

The bringer of the suit was already insulted by the Supreme Court circa 1983 when the court declared it was okay for taxpayers to fund a chaplain leading prayers before senate sessions

In all seriousness, how can someone sue God? It's like trying to sue Batman. How are you gonna serve God with a lawsuit? How is God gonna make pleadings and motions to the court? How is God gonna appear in court and argue his side of the case? How can God pay damages?
Of course, I'm saying this under the presumption that God isn't real. (hence- "its like trying to sue Batman"). I suppose if God does exist he COULD show himself and make a court appearance. Otherwise, you can't sue someone that isn't there to sue. Otherwise, the U.S. Government could try to prosecute Lex Luthor for all of his attempts at world domination.

I guess the senator could sue Him for all the money in the world, since it's all God's anyway. If the senator won, it would still be God's money. What a joke!

I heard something about this. Another thing is the site that encourages people to blaspheme God. I think it gives them a free video or something.
What these people don't realize is the guaranteed trip to Hell when they die. This is all part of the end time falling out. People just don't realize the seriousness of their actions, and that we all will be accountable.

I have said before not to sell Ernie Chambers short. He is a brilliant atheist. There is always a point to what he does. We Nebraskans are watching this very carefully. Senator Chambers is a black man who has served his district in North Omaha for over 37 years. He fights hard for the rights of minorities and the oppressed. He has a degree in law with honors (but refused to take the bar exam). I don't always agree with him but I won't ever sell him short.

Yes, I hope it gets lots of publicity and goes all the way to the Supreme Court. I want to hear Diane Sawyer and Wolf Blitzer discuss separation of Church and State every night for awhile.
Any word on when they are going to subpeona God? And who is going to judge Him?
What if God refuses to testify claiming separation of Powers?
