I've been feeling really sick lately, when I get home from work I have a pounding headache that no amount of muscle relaxers, pain killers, rest, yoga, and anything else would help.
I had a new tire put on my car yesterday and they said that there was a leak in the mid line of the exhaust, and my boyfriend said this may have been the cause of my headaches.
Could it have been? I drive about 1000 miles a week for work, have been achy, nauseous, major headache like I said, and just feeling completely unwell.
I am okay now, though, right? As long as I don't drive around with the windows up until I get it fixed?

Sounds like your boyfriend is right on the money. Get that exhaust fixed ASAP and if you can, don't drive it until you do.~

Typically all cars made after 1980 have enough sheetmetal and insulation in the bodywork and enough gaskets and seals around all openings which will almost certainly keep any fumes from entering the inside of the car. I have had a couple of 80's model GM cars that have had the mufflers and tailpipes break off; they sound like Camaros now and no fume problems at all with the windows up and the car moving.

Get the leak fixed right away. This is not something to delay on. It kills people. I think having the window open would make a big difference, but you don't want to take a chance here. Not good at all.

Good boyfriend. Good mechanic.
Carbon monoxide poisoning always starts with a vile headache. Long before your skin gets flushed.
I guess the proof will be if the headache stops.

Your boyfriend could be right, but one sure sign of it is rosy cheeks, and you don't notice any other symtoms while it is happening to you. I would go see a DR about it, cuz carbon monoxide poisoning has no symtoms, you don't feel anything, while u r in it, but if u get rosy cheeks while u r driving, its possible, but I would definately check with your DR, as it could be a sign of a more serious illness.

Your symptoms could definitely be coming from carbon monoxide. You definitely need to have your exhaust system checked. Carbon monoxide is nothing to fool around with....

The first symptom of CO poisoning is red skin. If you seem to be flushed, beware.
Fix the leak.

Are your cheeks flushed? Dont continously expose yourself to this poison. It may not cost that much to fix. How much is your health worth?
