We must confess our sins to others because Christ tells us it has to be that way. I am not a preacher but check your Bible it's there. I do not mean to know it all but it is there Darth. I need to study THE BIBLE more myself.

If you know your child has done wrong he or she needs to acknowledge it and make things right. They have to ask for forgiveness to be forgiven.
God commands we confess our sins and I think he does this to help us not get too full of ourselves!

I assume it has something to do with humbling the individual.
But then again if god exist
if god knows all
if god has power beyond that of a mere mortal
if god is good and nice,
Then why does god allow so many to suffer and live in misery, why would god allow so many innocents to die needlessly and pointlessly .
No if god exist, he is no friend of mine, and i want nothing to do with him.

It is not for God, but for the person to go in meekness and humility before God. He wants our love and dependence on Him as an earthly child does his natural father.

Yes, he knows when we sin, but he wants us to go to him in prayer and ask for forgiveness.
A parent knows when their child has done something bad, but isn't it better when they go to their parent and ask for forgiveness?
We have to make a concious decision to repent.

support groups use this idea too. You have to admit you have a problem before you can fix it. God knew this before smart man figured it out

Confessing(repenting) is how we are forgiven.If we do NOT confess(repent)they we are not forgiven
