first of all a good haircut, according to your facial structure, age and body style.
It is also important you have a balanced diet, eat lots of veggies and fruits to mantain a good metabolism.
I would use a good shampoo and no conditioner, as they make the hair greasy. Prefer a good conditioning tratment once a week, sundays at home. Leave it on for an hour and put on a plastic bag or a specific coverage for the head so the treatment penetrates the folicles. Ask your clerk in Wall Mart or any other super store for good brands.... there are always some on special...
good luck

Enita, I like Nexus Products, from long experience. I have not tried the Paul Mitchel products mentioned above, but I do know them to be quality professional products.
FYI: Healthy hair shines; the less healthy hair becomes, the duller it becomes. Even very coarse hair, which has the least natural shine, will begin to shine with great care.

Beauty starts from within. Eat right and plenty of fruit veggy and water. Flush the system of toxins. If you are not well or sick your hair will also look dull and drab. Also shampoo and condition with good quality products.
