I'm originally from Arkansas, and I am not aware of any time that it is legal to turn left on a red light. Laws may have changed since I lived there, but I would recommend waiting for the green light.

It's legal to make a left turn from a one way street onto a one way street on a red light after you stop and there is no sign posted stating "no turn on red". IN EVERY STATE, as far as I know.

It is legal to make a left turn from a one way street onto another one way street at a red light, but not onto a divided hiway or from a divided hiway. And I wouldn't do it just in case the cop watching you doesn't know that law. It's not worth the hassle just to save a minute of your time unless someone in your car is dying.

In NY anyway - it may not be legal in all states.

If you are turning from a one-way street onto another one-way street, then you can turn left on red.

Not unless there is a sign that says you can (which is very, very rare). There may be a green arrow which will override the red light, but again, that is very uncommon.

In other words, don't do it...Good luck!
