Assuming that you have good ideas and a good background and are fit to be a leader and this is the one controversial detail, then yes, I'd rather have a leader with real world problem solving abilities than to fluff everything with "God".

I don't vote based on a persons belief or non-belief (though I have said I would like to see an Atheist president, if for no other reason than the Religious BS would be quieted, somewhat). But in order to gain my vote, you'll have to tell me where you stand on the Issues.... not what your belief, or lack of, is. That doesn't matter to me.
Most all of the Politicians in power right now believe differently than I do.... even those I've voted for. In Politics, it's the Issues I'm worried about.... not where you stand on any religious idea.

I'm an agnostic, so take that into account with this.
No. I would definitely not. All I know about you is that you're an atheist. I'm not going to assume what your values are, and thus I don't know what exactly you stand for. If you want to know whether or not I'll vote for you, give me some more information, because I definitely don't make decisions based on someone's religion, or lack there of.

I don't know. Are you a Democrat, Republican, or an Independent candidate? Where do you stand on the issues, and do you have a voting record as a senator or congressman to prove your stand on these issues?
That kind of information is important, you know. Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush claim to be Christians, and there are people on both sides of the political arena who think each of them a disgrace, because of their issues and actions. So saying "I believe X, blah blah" doesn't help much anymore.

I won't vote for you just because you're an Atheist. I'd have to agree with some of your ideas to even consider voting for you for President of the U.S. I can separate belief from politics.
I'm an Atheist, BTW.

No. Why? The same reason as why you wouldn't vote for me. I don't know you or what you believe in...how can I vote for president without having some sense in what will happen should you actually win?

If i ever gained voting rights in the U.S. i would certainly consider voting for you, based on your policies of course. Or if there was such uproar from religious groups about an atheist president i would consider just voting for you in retaliation to that.

I would vote for you if you were the most qualified, not for your religious preference. I would not vote for you if you would use your religious preference as a basis to not respect the many religions in this country. That would be one of MY preferences in a president.

You'd be better than Bush, that's for sure. Unfortunately, though, I'm too young to vote. And even if I wasn't, I wouldn't only vote for you because you're an atheist.

If you will actually do a good job, i.e stay out of my business and not get the country involved in unjust wars, then I don't really care what you believe or disbelieve in.
