At one time I would have said there is only One Source (though I am NOT a Christian.........) But I am definitely of the mind, now, that there are many. Merely my personal belief, not based on Biblical verses, though they certainly seem to back up that belief within the Judaism and Christian texts.
Alice - Jehovah is a poor translation of a German Priest (If your're going to use it, KNOW where it comes from) It is based on the 4 letters in Hebrew (roughly translated to YHVH in English) and the vowel points added to make someone reading it out loud to say LORD (Adonai). This was not used till 1520 in Germany and the J in the modern German language is pronounced Y.
Mamabear - neither Hebrew nor Greek used capital and small letters... they were all one size, so there is no indication till later languages that the word god or gods was used in such a manner. It is by MAN that is done.... not by any God(s).
Man I wish people would learn the history of their own religion before trying to dictate to others what they are supposed to believe.

There are not multiple "Gods", with the big "G". However, there are many different "elohim", or "spirits", that are greater than human beings, and were familiar with good and evil before humans were. The one we call "God" (big G) refers to the Creator, the rest are commonly called angels (whether fallen or unfallen).
Fallen angels (demons) have taken credit for God's works in the past, and some have even been worshipped as "gods" by humans. The small "g" is significant; it divides the true God from the false gods.
A rose, by any other name, is still not properly a pine tree, no matter how many things they may have in common. Just because a being was worshipped (or is worshipped) as a god, doesn't make it the Creator.

I understand where you're coming from. I didn't read all of the examples. I'm not answering from a Christian perpective. I believe in more than on God, however, I do believe in a Supreme Deity who is all-pervadive( both creator and the creation) and who is also masculine and feminine. a Father-Mother God. I think perhaps even when the Bible was written, this belief was present and God refers to himself in the first person plural, either because of the father-mother nature or because He-She exists in all and thus refers to Himself as All (ie. plural)

I'm no expert, but as far as I know the only ones who believe in multiple gods are pagans. Is that right? Which includes Mormons, of course.

Many people put other gods before Him but there is non like my God.
He said, "Is there a God besides Me? Yea, there is no God. I know not any." Isaiah 44:8 If God doesn't know any, I certainly don't know any.

Some of the verses you cite (like let us make man in our image) are referring to the trinity (father, son, holy spirit) while others are talking about the one true god in comparison to all the other stupid made-up gods that people were worshipping (and still do).

I would agree with you but bear in mind that most Christians will tell you those verses are taken out of context and that without the "Spirit" you can't understand them.
Although I think these verses are self-explanatory.....
