5 months of jail for putting the lives of countless soldiers at risk thanks to his lies?

5 months for treason?

5 months for defaming the military and inflaming violence?

Can any one justify this light sentence? Or am I justified in finding this absolutely ridiculous?

Bruce: he was trying to make money off it. And impersonating a taco bell employee? Are you serious? His video was translated and broadcast to a number of Arab nations... you think his lies would have held any weight if he was impersonating some one in the service industry rather than the armed forces?

Kirk: Ummm let’s see, aided the enemy by providing propaganda material for personal gain. That’s called TREASON. Look it up, that’s a crime.

Oh and Kirk that’s not true about the president. Maybe in your circle of friends, but 95% of the rational people in this country would not.

If it was not for him saying he committed a massacre and now has the middle east believing we do such thing. He should be in prison for as long as we are in Iraq.

For the guy of says it is no different than impersonating a guy who works a t Taco Bell. How bad do you think Taco Bell would sue him for if he said he worked there and the cut up rats and mixed them into tacos?

Thanks for the update. I recall some questioner putting him forth as some great "voice in the wilderness" condemning our involvement in Iraq. I was one of several responders who said this guy was phonier than a 3 dollar bill. Once the guys on the cell block find out why this guy is in the joint, they will take care of the problem. They had to put the "American Taliban" in solitary at the Federal prison at the old George Air Base to keep him alive after he was administered a little cell block justice.

i think it is pretty disgusting that this is all the time he gets, with the fact that his rhetoric WAS shown on the Iraq TV surely that would fall under the realms of it being treason......

Sadly he is not the first and highly doubt he will be the last.

Totallly fair. Why should it be any different than impersonating a Taco Bell employee? It's not like he tried to kill someone. He just pretended to be a soldier...so what? Personally, I don't think it should be a crime, unless he was making money off of it (fraud).

He did nothing but talk so what really was his crime. Talking to much? Nearly every true American would like to see Bush DEAD so does that meen we should jail everyone in the US? Then there would be no-one to fight his battles......
