No. You must repent of your sins, and you must trust in Jesus Christ as your only way to the Father. This means that you must take that step of faith to give your life completely to God trusting that the God that made you will keep you. When you do this you will be born again and will continue to hate and repent of your sins. Then you will Want to go to church.

So don't worry about getting into church. Worry about getting right with God. Then He will change your heart such that you will desire to go to church, no matter how hard it is to bring yourself to go. And I can testify that He will bring you to the right one.

No you can believe in God without going to church....and even be a true Christian. But even the apostle Paul said not to forsake the gathering together. Going to church can help you grow as a Christian and give you a support system to help you when you're not at church and things don't look good.

You most certainly do not have to go to Church to believe in God, worship God, or pray to God. Religion is always personal, whether you go to Church or not. As for whether or not a "true" Christian attends Church, that depends on your denomination. From a Catholic or Orthodox point of view, you must at least be a semi-regular member of Church to merit the title of "Christian." But other denominations are usually a little more lax on the definition of a "Christian."

No, it is NOT true! Many people believe in God but not in organized religion. "Church" is where your heart and soul are and in what you practice on a daily basis. That can be anywhere at all and even IN a church. As a matter of fact, I can't think of a better place to find more people lacking in Christian belief than in a Church on Sunday!

To be a true Christian you probably should, but just to believe in God? You don't need a church for that.

Silly listen to yourself... you must believe in God and you are not in church right?? So you have answered your own question. You must believe in Jesus and ask to be forgiven of your sins and ask him into your heart. That is all it takes no matter what your religion. The reason people say it is important to go to church is that it keeps you close to Him. Just like anything else in life, if you believe in it, you want to be a part of it so think of it as a place to learn more about something you believe in, a place to understand a deeper meaning to our short time on earth. There are many great passages in the bible, for me there are two verses that say it all they are in the sources listed here. Email me if you don't understand them or better yet go to church with an open mind. The second verse tells us that we will not know or understand many things here on earth, that it is like trying too look through dark glass but in eternity we will know and understand everything and He will know us. So here we have everything we really ever need for our soul.
1. To believe in Jesus and
2. Realize we will never truly understand why things happen as they do but one day in heaven it will be made crystal clear

When you become a Christian you will want to pass on God's word because usually people who have great news like to share it. Church is a place for people who believe to be together and be excited about Jesus.

Church doesn't save you and salvation and trusting Jesus is what does.

While hearing the Word of God increases your faith, it doesn't constitute a christian. There are many fake christians that sit in those pews. The true Christians are the ones with Christ in their heart.

What type of friend would you be to the groom if you ignored his wife? Jesus said that the church is his bride. He called the first apostle's together to tell them that there is strength in fellowship. He told the disciples to wait until the Spirit had come upon them. It did as they gathered in worship.

No Christian can be complete until they are in the fellowship of the church. That is a different question than believing in God. But what good does it do to believe in God if you don't obey him. He has commanded us to come together in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and worship you.

Pastor John

Addendum: "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalms 100:1-5 (NIV)

When Jesus broke the bread, he said "do this in memory of me." How can you do that if you don't go to church?

Remember, it was JESUS who established his church, and chose teachers and leaders for it. Was Christ’s Church hierarchical? Yes. He chose twelve apostles, made Peter the leader, and gave them authorities that all the other disciples did not have. Later, in the book of Acts, the hierarchy develops further. The apostles appoint Deacons (greek - diakonos / διάκονος ), Priests (greek - presbyteros / πρεσβυτερος ), and Bishops (greek - episkopos / επίσκοπος ), and each have different duties. It is the same today, in the Catholic Church: Bishops, Priests, and Deacons.

The Bible is very clear about the importance of the church. Why would they work so hard to develop it if it wasn't important?

No you do not have to go to church to be a Christian. The Bible says (Do not forsake the assembling yourselves together). We can receive strength from each other and pray for each other. When we don't go to Church we don't have the people to help us. Peace and God bless
