This question hinges on two things: one is that Peter was told by God to not call anything unclean that he called clean, and the second is the claim that the old law has been done away with. Dealing with the unlcean statement first, it would be a stretch to say that God was saying that all unclean animals are now clean. What did Peter immediately do? What did he tell the cousil of Jerusalem? Did he tell them that this meant to eat all types of meat? No he did not. He said that the curtain coming down with all sorts of clean and unclean animals on it and Peter being told to not call anything unclean that God had made clean meant that Gentiles could now be part of the family of God. This was Peter's explination.

As for the second part, people love to point out that the law has been done away with. if that is true, someone better tell Jesus because He said in Matthew 5 that not one jot or tittle would in any ways pass from the Law until heaven and Earth be done away with and all be fullfilled. That is two qualifiers. Even to say that Jesus fullfilled it, there is still the problem that Heaven and Earth have not passed away yet. And also, what about Christ's second return? What about the judgment? While the temple of God had been physical, it is now only Spiritual. So the Laws of God deal with those in the Spiritual Kingdom of God. You an say that the dietary laws are spiritual and now tell us not to take in anything unclean. Phillipeans 4:8 tells us what is clean. It tells us, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things." So ask yourselves, hae you taken into your mind any movies lately and did they pass the Phillipeans 4:8 test? How about the music you listen to, or the books you read, of the sports game you attend? I could keep going, but I believe any intelligent person can grasp the meaning of this.

As for Peter being scolded by Paul in Galatians, it was not for eating only clean or unclean items, but the fact that he acted diffeently when around Jews by birth as opposed to Gentiles by birth. That is being two faced, and James has an excellent lesson on that.

For dietary means, we know know that the unclean animals, if we eat them, are much more harmful to our bodies than the clean. Maybe by giving our Creator the benifit of the doubt and trusting that He knows our bodies better than we do, we might actually live longer and healthier.

1. The dietary laws of the OT were intended only for the Israelites, not the Gentiles. That being said, even doctors today will agree that by avoiding the foods declared by God as "unclean", people would be much healthier. Those unclean foods cause high cholesterol and other health problems.
2. Read also Acts 10: 9-15
3. Read also Romans 14: 13-17

People have been on the road of pick and choose, that is all it is. People try to justify going against it by saying the Bible is irrelevant now. It's not. It is just that people don't care. People want to live the way they want to live and have it justified too. Christians still are supposed to have the boundaries as so stated in the Bible, the whole Bible, not just one verse, paragraph, or book in the Bible, THE WHOLE THING. The Bible was wrote by men thru God, and God said not a word should be changed. The rules still apply... they just aren't enforced.

I'm not sure! But the bible says this if you are unsure of something. James 1: 5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

If you ask God and believe that He will :) He will ^_^ He's sure to always give you the right answer :) Have a Blessed Day! And stay strong in the Faith!

Jesus changed the food laws with Peter. He lowered a sheet filled with "unclean" animals and told Peter to "kill and eat" --

The only limitation on our food is not to eat something that would make someone else stumble. This principle would apply to a situation like not drinking alcohol in front of a recovering alcoholic. You can drink it other times, but just be sensitive to those around you.

Under law we have a shadow of what was coming the atonement. This shadow can clearly be seen in the sacrifices they represented the sacrifice. Jesus has already come to the world. We now are free to worship God in spirit and in truth not in traditions of law.

As a Muslim we can eat all meat accept for animals who eat meat themselves. That basically works out for all animals accept for Hippos. I do not eat pork. I have never eaten camel, but I would. To me drinking alcohol should be a sin for all Christians and people. It only brings bad. Well anyways, now I'm just rambling.

Genesis 9:3, 4- Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for YOU. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to YOU. Only flesh with its soul—its blood—YOU must not eat.

You shouldn't, everyone who tells you it's okay is lying to themselves. What's the point of keeping the bible if you don't follow everything in it, if it's so useless to Christians then they should throw it out. It's either the Truth or it isn't, if you say it is then you should do everything it says.

''Jesus's death on the cross negated all the Old Testament laws about eating''

Every Christian's favorite statement, funny that I've never seen a single place in the Bible where Jesus says That his death on the cross cancels all the Old Testament laws.

Don't know about you, but I'm a Christian. I can eat whatever I want. It says so in the New Testament.
