God Said Wait

With every pore of my flesh,
I loved her.
She was every dream I'd had,
Come true in one flashing light.
I lived inside her smiling eyes,
And she rented space in my heart.
But Iove was unrequited.
I thought I was a failure, that day she left.
I succumbed to fear of loneliness.
I decided to end it.
My life.
Then, at the doorway to oblivion,
God said wait!
Behold! A new love I send thee.
She was even more beautiful than the last.
Her of my past.
What was her name?
My memory fails.
I fell in love again.
Her voice being a song.
Yet I am the only dancer.
And if this love should sour,
I will not mourn as before.
I will not seek death,
But will seek the Light of God's Gift.
God said wait.
So I know He has a plan for even I.
For He heard my cries from Heaven,
And bid me to wait.

I appreciate your poem; it is only those who cannot breath in art who would disparage it. Don't stop posting them, my friend. They are wonderful ponderings for the soul. :)

Thanks for whatever duty you pulled in the corps; honestly, I appreciate your sacrifice, but please... give up posting your poems. War isn't the only way to contract PTSD.
