It depends on what you have decided.

There are too many variables to give a good answer.

1. Are you just roommates?
2. Are you in a relationship with your roommate?
3. Did you agree on the terms before you moved in together?
4. Is this agreement in writing?
5. Are you angry because you feel that you are paying too much?
6. Is there an income disparity?
7. Is one person doing more housework and they feel that they shouldn't have to contribute more to the household?

If any of the above questions haven't been addressed, now is the time to discuss this with your roommate.

Heads of household, e g husband/wife combine their incomes for the common good of the home. All other adults living together should have pre agreed the finances before moving in.

I'm just going to be honest. That's a stupid question.

If the household is a couple, be it boyfriend/girlfriend, husband and wife, or married AND with kids, it doesn't matter who pays what. Just come to an agreement with whoever you're living with.

The same thing also applies to roommates. If you hadn't already established who was paying for what before sharing a residence with them, then thats your mistake...

Hope this helps.

Common ways of doing it are to split expenses evenly, split them according to income, or just pool all the money coming in and pay bills from there. There's no right or wrong, it's just whatever the two of you agree to.

With me and my wife split all our income evenly. We are married and life partners, everything I have belongs to her and vice versa.

If it is just two adults living together you should do what ever works for you.
