As long as you meet all the rest of the requirements, and you blood sugar is being stabilized, then taking "Metformin" which is a diabetic medication won't be a contraindication to donate blood. However if you ever had a bovine or beef insulin injection, then that will disqualify you as a blood donor.

Anyway, you will be checked and have to answer few questions to determine if you can be a blood donor.

I don't think it would matter if you're taking Metformin. But call a donation center and make sure with them. Also, being a diabetic you might want to think twice about donating blood, because you need to take in sugar and lots of liquids to boost your blood level after donating.

I just signed up to donate blood. I asked about medications, and they said that in general, the only medications that will prevent you from donating blood are things like blood thinners. I think Metformin will be ok.

it is not the only criteria for donating blood, age matters, health history matters, even men with earings in some hospitals do not
allow them to donate. There is usually a screening form in every
blood bank where you want to donate.

Do you have PCOS or diabetes or something else? If you have PCOS you should be totally fine. If you have diabetes of course you need to be more careful... the medicine itself shouldn't affect your blood at all.
