The Bible says:
The bat was a bird, it's actually a mammal
The earth is a circle or a square, it's actually a slightly deformed sphere
The earth is stationary, the earth rotates and orbits around the sun
The earth is supported by strings or w/e: gravity supports celestial objects
All life was simultanously created: life started from a single common ancestor 4 billion years ago
Life doesn't change: evolution
Is there anymore scientific misconceptions in the Bible you can think of? Can anyone name something that the Bible got right about the natural world?

Lev. 11:13, 19 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls...And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
Fowls are birds!

It's God's Word for Christians, the Bible should be infallible. But it clearly isn't.

Why don't you answer my question, quilting? Why do you have blind faith in religion and none in science? Why do you ask questions when I'm trying to get a ******* answer?

Actually, it would be almost impossible for the Bible to get anything right about the natural world because people then viewed their world in a completely different way than we view our world. The ancients believed their own perceptions were real. They believed that what we'd call our mind's eye was actually reality. To do this, they had to convince themselves that the physical realm, external to their mind, was actually an illusion created by their mind. They believed that a tree could not fall in the woods, indeed, there could be no woods, unless there was a human mind there to perceive it. They explained how two people could share the same "imaginary" physical realm as one "casting a mote" in the other's eye. People who imagine their own perceptual experience forms the basis of reality are called Solipsists. The Bible was written by Solipsists, for Solipsists and makes perfect sense if approached from that perspective.
What makes modern people modern is that the scientific revolution began four hundred years ago. Modern people view their world from an entirely different perspective. Modern people know the source of their conscious awareness, the origin of their minds, is their own self-contained living human brain. Modern people know that they can perceive only a very small part of objective reality, which is completely external to their minds and contains all of the matter and energy within the universe. Modern people are aware that their brains create the illusion of a reality within their minds and call this subjective (perceptual) experience.
What was real for the ancients is a subjective mental illusion for moderns. What is real for moderns was a subjective mental illusion for the ancients. This is the source of the disparity observed when comparing the solipsistic Bible to modern reality. This is why there is such a pronounced difference between persons of religious or scientific viewpoints. The two don't even share the same reality. Some people, including professional scientists who are practicing Christians, are able to switch from one philosophical viewpoint to the other. Most others, seem more or less trapped within a single philosophical perspective.

Actually to the primitive man a circle would describe the earth better than say an egg shape. Isa 40:22
Job 25:7 Says he hangs the earth upon nothing.
Nothing said about any strings.
Deuteronomy 23:12,13 Has a whole list of rules on hygiene that we are today only learning about. even the quartine of people with catching diseases.
Actually, it got a lot of things right but you are hell bend on proving the bible not a book of facts and wouldn't believe it if you knew it was true. That is what the pharisees did to Jesus.
He raised the dead, healed the sick , walked on water, mirculously fed thousands and they looked for a way to kill him. Why? He didn't look up to them as God's.
Some people want fame not the truth.

The Bible stated the earth is spherical in shape thousands of years before science discovered that fact. The Bible states that the Earth is suspended on nothing, in space, and stated so thousands of years before science discovered that fact. The Bible states that the earth rotates on its axis, and stated so thousands of years before scientists discovered that fact. As for the bat thing, this Scripture nowhere calls a bat a bird or a fowl. It merely tells the Jews that they are to include the bat among the things which are unclean and not to be eaten.
I don't know where you got your information but it wasn't the Bible. It seems you don't know the Bible after all.

When you start over again, focus for a moment on "the mist" in Genesis that covered the world. In the KJV you read, "But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground."
Understand this one point before you build again.

Maybe you are missing something. Astrophysicist Hugh Ross, who has devoted his life to researching such matters seems to think the Bible accords perfectly with science.
As for your statement about the bat - this is an arbitrary assignment of classification and has nothing to do with science.
If I mentioned the four corners of the world, would you really assume I meant the earth was a square?
Let's get honest.

Maybe when it called stones "stones" during stoning someone to death.
Biological evolution says nothing about the Bible. The scientists let others worry about things that are demonstrably false and continue to work in an evidence-based environment.
So, what's it going to be?

Most people are aware that a bat flies, and whether it is a bird or mammal is rather insignifigant. What are your scripture references for your claim the Bible says the earth is stationary? Supported by strings??
The Genesis account of how and WHEN life began is factual;
there is NOT ONE fossil record in existence anywhere in the world that clearly shows one kind of animal becoming another.
And don't feed me this bunk about a virus or bacteria in a petri dish in a laboratory; I want to see VERTIBRATES VERTIBRATES VERTIBRATES. Your fossil evidence is nonexistant, like you say God is.
The REAL QUESTION is Can YOU get anything right about the Bible?

let me ask you something...how do you know a bat is a mammal???.were you physically there to witness how this conclusion came about? this scientific "proof" that you base all of your statements on.....did you personally do all this testing, etc???....or did you read the words of someone else and chose to believe it?.......I want you to prove to me that every thing you claim above is true ...I want you to do the testing personally.... and prove these findings to me...I don't want you to quote any scientific books, journals, or show me pictures etc.... I have a problem with them because they were written by men, and how do I know that they are telling the truth...they could have made it all up, doctored the pictures ...I don't want to believe a lie... ..so come on !!!..just tell me the location of your lab and I will be there... I want to see the proof with my own eyes and I want you to do it .....think I sound a bit ridiculous???? .....no more than you sound to me......We are all free to believe what we choose ....don't ask me to show you proof of my beliefs until you can prove yours to me.
