Could it be because you're simply turning things into demons when there's actually a more rational explanation?

roflmao.... "demons don't descriminate".
Ok, let me say this again.... you, of the Abrahamic religions, are the only ones that run around saying "a demon attacked, a demon attacked" when there's a much more rational explanation for whatever you experienced.
So... let me ask again... why do demons only attack those of the Abrahamic religions?
Why don't the rest of us get these demon attacks?
Don't you think that, if we actually did, a person would be converted?
Or do you think that the more rational explanation would be that they aren't demon attacks at all?

Nah, don't think I've heard that from a Jew either. But then, the Jews learned the hard way not to be bossy. They're pretty good about keeping to themselves unless asked. Probably the only Abrahamic religion that I can stand.

Have they ever presented an atheist with stigmata? Religious hysteria is a very real mental phenomena. All of it quackery of some sort or other.

There is a rational explanation. So-called "demons" that people get are nothing more than emotional or mental problems with a purely psychological or medical cause. The ancients didn't understand the workings of the human mind or what makes a person act odd, so some cultures explained it in terms of religion with the idea that they were unseen hostile forces taking over a person, while other cultures saw mentally-ill people as seers, oracles, or shamans who had access to the hidden knowledge of the spirit world or the gods. The belief in demon possession is reinforced by the fact that exorcism rituals DO often work. However, they only work because the victims believe in them and exorcism acts as a sort of therapy to calm them down to a more lucid state.

"Fight the demons within" is a quote to describe negative and morally/ethically wrong behavior and actions and trying to deal with them, to resist acting on them. It's merely a metaphor. There are no half-goatmen wandering around.
The only demons that exist, are us, humans.
To Angeltress: Undermining anothers' intelligence is, in itself, unintelligent and a weakness because you blind yourself by making this into a belief when, in fact, it is not true. You are never truly aware of ones potential and full capabilites until you experience them first hand. Also, who's to say what you "know" is what's true? You're entire set of beliefs may be wrong, and from what I can tell you seem to set yourself up with a lot of misinformed and 'uneducated' guesses based purely on your own self-satisfying conclusions, so who's to say all your beliefs did not originate as such? If that's the case, then perhaps everything you have ever believed, just because you felt like it benefitted you the most, is, in actuality, false.
'Sides, Canadians are smarter ;)

Is this really the Moires Fate that's been in this forum? Because, although we know you are a confirmed atheist, and we know that you aren't too crazy about people of faith, this question just doesn't seem to fit you...
You are a fairly well educated person. I'm sure you know better than this.
If you don't, you need to do some research.
Demons are more common than gods, goddesses, or even dragons.
Of all the atheists who lurk here, you would have been one of the last ones I would have ever thought I would say this to:
It wouldn't hurt to read a book now and then, rather than getting all your information from anti-Christian web sites...
Really, I'm surprised at you! I know you and I will never see eye to eye, but I did figure that you were at least as educated as I am!!
EDIT:
While we're talking about education, Ironsharpener's spelling is correct...yours is not. It is DIScriminate...as Iron typed it...not DEScriminate, as you did.
(The Yamster has provided us with a neat spell checker, in case your browser doesn't have one built in.)

If you expect rationality in religions, then you will be disappointed.
If you do a Yahoo!Search on demons, you will find more than a Judeo-Christian-Islamic result set.

As a Christian, I can only speak for me.
This Christian televangelist show comes to mine.
This preacher was calling "demons" out of people.
I was laughing so hard, I almost fell out of my wheelchair.
On the other hand, I watched a show which talked about Satanists who were possessed by demons.
This ex-satanist, said he got so caught up into worshiping Satan that he was possessed by a demon.
I would say 99% of the time, its fake.
You can never discount every case as we have no way of "seeing" into their mind.
You sound like a very strong skeptic.
What about Shamans?
I thought they contact demons on a regular basis.
I cannot say with absolution, every case is fake.
We have no way to determine whether the spirit world exists.
God Bless

Buddhists and Hindus have beings corresponding to demons, including demonic possession, as do many other non-Abrahamic beliefs. It's a basic element of social control and explanation of disease.

Demons exist in many cultures that have nothing to do with our Abrahamic faiths. They are actually more prevalent than Gods within indigenous cultures throughout the world and in history.

Actually they only attack certain denominations. Many Christians live their entire lives in good sound Bible believing church and never encounter demons. The Bible tells us to leave demons alone, and God protects us from them. But if you dabble in anything where you lose control of youself you open your selves up to demonic attacks. Those denominations who practice what they call "tongues" are plagued by demons because it is a psychic experience that opens christian up to demons. Slaying in the spirit etc also are the same way.
