very simple.
time is on my side. if i am wrong, then what? - nothing. i mean i do live good life, don't smoke / drink, healthy life style, will live long time, people will remember me in good way. i also make good money, so life is fun. why should i try some of the things that bible prohibits me from doing? - i do know staying away from those things is a good idea anyways..
if i am right, i am in heaven, and you are not.
that is pretty much all to it.
i believe that everyone should do risk analysis on what is going to take place after death and decide for himself what to do.

Some years ago, people used to be put into insane asylums. They were often put in for "seeing things" that were obviously nonsense.
Like rocks falling from the sky.
For a long time, people had no trouble accepting this idea, as the Gods lived in the sky.
When science came along, such people were considered insane. Rocks obviously don't just drop out of the sky. Who has seen such a thing? Who could explain such a thing? What nonsense!
Meteorites. They're rare, few people have actually seen one hit, let alone been able to pull a sample from the ground.
We know they are true fact now.
Dear, there is nothing that a true scientist will call "obvious nonsense". Too often it comes back to bite you.
God is not provable, yet. Since we can't exhaustively prove God doesn't exist, it is silly to say he can't exist.
To say you don't believe it because there is no proof? Very reasonable. To deny others the belief (It is a belief, not a fact), is against the very essence of our country's freedoms.
Why would they want to prove something exists?
Some of us still seek the unknown rather than simply sitting in the rubble of past discoveries with no more imagination or desire to pretend.
Some of us still want to know. Those are our pioneers.
I am not religious.
I experienced God directly when I was seventeen.
That's NOT proof for others (personal proof, with reservations just to consider alternative explanations).
We need beliefs. They are the mind's way of exploring the things we can neither test nor see repeated, and what a terrible thing it would be if that were forbidden, to only be able to explore or think about or discuss those things that have been proven, tested, codified.
What a sad, stagnant world that would be.

how can you prove God doesn't exist? you can't. you can't prove somthing that doesn't exist so basically you don't know if God exists or not and that makes you an agnostic not an atheist.
I can believe God exists through the orgins of the universe. Science tells us that the universe had a beginning, the Bible says the universe had a beginning. In order for somthing to begin to exist there must be a cause, The Bible says God is the first cause. In order for the universe and time to come into existence like science tells us , there must be a power outside of time that is not restricted by time to create it. Nothing + nothing = nothing, ...somthing + somthing = somthing. Atheism is illogical, use your head.

So if you know evidence has been forged then I ask why you do not leave that fake evidence out of the equation and rely on the evidence that has merit? I say there is a God...and you ask me to prove it. You tell me there is a George Washington and I ask you to prove it. How are you going to prove to me there is a George Washington; what evidence do you have? All you have is written records, just as there are written records from prophets that have devised ways to prove what they say is true; to protect the records from forgery.

I'm assuming you refer to the big-daddy in the sky, personification of god idea. I don't believe in that either. Consider however we never assume a loaf of bread emanated from a non-existent baker, an automobile from a non-existent manufacturer, a skyscraper from non-existent construction workers and engineers. Why then change our logic and assume the physical universe, a far more complex system did. Emanating from a source which itself is absolute, non-physical is more elegant and logical.
Mckenziecalhoun below makes a stunning point.

Ms Betty, and I say who even cares? I just do my best and hopoe that it's enough to get me through this life. I try to love everyone as much as is possible, and do right by myself, after all, I stil have to look myself in the mirror at least once a day. If I can do that and look myself in the eye then I don';t CARE what anyone else thinks does or says.

Tell me does an explosion happen from nothing? Where did it come from? Does that make sense to you? If an explosion/universe etc can just pop from nowhere why can't God? Doesn't explosions DESTRUCT rather than CONSTRUCT?
Reproduction is quite evidential to me. You need two people to reproduce. That's the only way animals and humans multiply... Who was the first two to start this process?
Another question: Which came first chicken or egg?

That's ok, if your mind is made up.
Christians are not to cast our pearls before swine.
My question is, if so many are adamant about there being no God, then why do they come to this forum? Religion and spirituality would seem meaningless to those that are against God. Just curious.

BB: the overwhelming evidence is there for those who seek.
Sakswach may have once existed, but there is not a shred of credible evidence.
The Bible is filled with thousands of evidences. Thousands.

You can call it nonsense but I know that God is truth. I have felt his power and fully believe in Him. To me atheism, the belief that our complex universe came from nothing is obviously nonsense.
