Dearest Kerstin,
I have the English vernacular yet I cannot expose the words I would've liked you to read instead. I have contracted the flu. Things are slowly getting worse, but I hope your words carry some truth into my fate. If this is the only letter you receive, then I want you to enjoy it. It's in the language you grew up with and hopefully this letter hits a little closer to home. Stay safe, live well, and think about me from time to time if you want. I'll get better soon.
P.S. I know I sound like I'm dying, but it's just a common cold. I'm feeling really terrible. Apparently, you were the stronger one. I don't even know anyone who's sick and you're living with someone who was or is. I just thought that might be worth mentioning.
