A person who is vomiting when drunk is okay to leave alone as long as the person is awake.....It is not necessarly a bad thing that a person is throwing up because they are drunk. This is because the persons body is preventing itself from absorbing anymore alcohol. The dangerous situation concerning drunks throwing up is when the person is unconsious. When a person is unconsious they are unable to control their airway, this means that if a person vomits then they could get it in their airway, causing them to asperate or "choke" on the vomitus. The way you prevent this is to lay the victim on their side in a left lateral recumbent position more commonly refered to as the "recovery position". You do this by rolling the victim (or in this case your drunk passed out friend :-) on their left-side with their right knee bent. By positioning the victim like this you allow any vomit the person "produces" to flow out of their mouth. In most cases, but NOT ALL cases a person can just sleep off their intoxication.
You need to call 911
obviously if the person stops breathing.
If the person will not wake up.
If the person is a diabetic.
If you are concerned about them.
If you are unsure it is always better to be on the safe side and call 911. I promise no one will EVER get mad at you for calling 911 for a person if you are worried about.
So to more specifically answer your question.
If they vomit...good for them, they are getting the alcohol out of their system
-If the person goes to sleep, place them on their left side with their right knee pulled up.
-If the person vomits while asleep or "passed out" roll them on their side, call 911, and monitor their breathing, 911 dispachers with give you instructions from there
-If they are REALLY dizzy.... -_- tell their dumb *** to sit the hell down! :-)
-If at any time you are worried about the person (your friend) call 911.
-ORRRRR you and your friend could avoid all this stuff by just drink in moderation like responible adults in the first place.
Have fun but please BE SAFE!

Give him plenty of water to drink. Dont force him to drink more than a couple of glasses because you'll just end up filling his stomache and make him sick. Dont try to move him around too much. Let him sit/lay in one comfortable place and rest. If you are putting him to bed, make sure he's laying sideways just in case he needs to vomit again.

He needs to drink water in order to prevent becoming dehydrated...that is the cause of hangovers. Other than that, he just needs to go to sleep and sleep it off.
