lets be open minded here. i am trying to understand how liberals think. i have been into politics for a while. and im now seeing some things in liberal ideology. everyday it seems more and more like a mental illness. this idea was first brought on by Michael Savage, who i will say is borderline insane. but he does have me thinking, is liberalism a mental illness? if liberals were running things, we would have illegals in the country that would drain our tax payer dollars and social programs, have programs into place that the country can't afford(universal healthcare), and we would pull out of Iraq and let thousands of people get slaughtered and leave a safe haven for terrorism. can anyone shed some light on this? it might be because im conservative that i feel this way, but im trying to see how liberals think. right now im considering liberalsim being a mental illness.

Liberalism can certainly lead to mental illness. Look at the rise of people on anti-depressants, and look at the "doomsday "media coverage on a daily basis, and almost all of the bad things in the world are the result of rich, white, American men. I don't understand their thinking at all in regards to the programs you've mentioned and I once was a liberal too.

Well here's a few beliefs to get you started.

#1. War is unnecessary and ineffective against an ideology.

#2. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Saddam and OBL were never friends or cohorts planning attacks together. Iraq posed NO threat to the U.S.. In fact Iraq was an ally of the U.S. for many years and much of their supposed weapons of mass destruction which turned out to be chemical weapons they got from the U.S..

#3. We are a nation of immigrants. Anyone who isn't a Native American Indian is a descendant of an immigrant. American corporations are baiting people from Mexico to come here and the government allows it and helps the companies do it.

#4. President Bush stated our Mission was Accomplished May 1, 2003.
The troops should have been coming home by the tens of thousands May 2, 2003. I believe that the U.S. does NOT need even 1 permanent U.S. military base in Iraq or in any other country of the world, quite frankly! WE ARE NOT THE WORLD POLICE!!!

And finally the richest country in the world should be able to ensure that EVERY LAST AMERICAN can have every medical need met!!!

This is just the beginning for me of being a liberal! There are many other aspects and beliefs to it.

Essentially for me it boils down to the indivdual people being more important than corporations and the government is supposed to be a representative of the people, by the people, and FOR the people!! Not themselves and the wealthiest among us!

When I first read this question I thought "here's another neocon who doesn't have a thought of his own and is quoting something he heard on hate radio." Thank you for confirming my thoughts. As it is we have a Neocon running things and we have illegals in the country that would drain our tax payer dollars and social programs, have a war in place that the country can't afford. It was insane that we even got into the position we are in Iraq and created a situation where thousands of people are getting slaughtered and we left a safe haven for terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Don't buy into all the scare tactics Savage, the other right wing radio hosts, and the HMOs and insurance companies are putting out about reforming healthcare.

I've wondered exactly the same thing about many of the conservatives I've seen here. I've never understood how anyone can see the excesses of the current administration and still say with a straight face that Republicans still believe in smaller government and less spending. Either they've never read a newspaper or they've totally lost touch with reality. Liberals at least practice what they preach. Whether you agree with it or not is another matter, but that doesn't mean they're insane.

It's difficult for me to write an answer to you that will not be deleted due to non conformance of community standards, but I'll try.

Your question is absolutely ridiculous. Liberals and conservatives need each other. The differences and debates between the two are where sensible compromises come from. You see, it's not about being a liberal or a conservative. It all boils down to not having your head up your A**.

The "conservative" in the whitehouse blows your negative point of view about liberals right out of the water, and, proves my point that it's not about being a lib or a con, doesn't it?

There. I think I lived up to community standards here.

Yer funny. The 90% of your tax money that goes to an illegal, unintelligible invasion of a sovereign nation doesn't bother you, but the illegals do? "Is liberalism a mental illness? let's be open minded here." Aren't you saying "you be open minded while I remain closed minded"? You might want to take a course in critical thinking.

There are already millions of illegal aliens. If we would enforce the laws we already have it would not be such a problem. Can we really afford not to do something about the 47 million Americans without healthcare insurance. Hundreds of thousands Iraqi civilians have already been killed. Iraq is a breeding ground for terrorist, and the Iraqi goverment is no closer to a political settlement today than they were 6 years ago.

In Australia it is John Howard is the leader of the Liberal party about to be voted out by the majority.
The last of Georges friends that supported him in the war in Iraq.

let's be open minded here.

I don't care about how the typical conservative's mind works, nor the typical liberal's, for I see people as individuals. Everyone ticks differently, and I don't believe there is one person in this world whose every thought is a liberal one, nor do I believe that a person exists whose every thought is a conservative one.

However I'm afraid there is no hope for you... you're just an insensitive jerk.

all you have are factless Republican talking points...

first, we have just ended 7 years of Republican leadership that did NOTHING about the illegal problem... but magically they would stop it now? so there goes that idea...

the war is probably going to cost about as much as most universal health care plans... if we can't afford one, we can't afford the other...

and just what do you want to do with Iraq? you refuse to go after the leaders of terrorism and then complain about their actions? you're fighting it just like Vietnam... the enemy leadership was in another area each time and the "war planners" refused to put any pressure on them...

right now I'm considering conservatism as a mental illness... they believe everything their leaders tell them and never bother to look at the facts...

EDIT: if people who look at cost vs. benefit are Conservative then you should tell that to the "conservatives"...

all I see your side doing is defending every action by saying "you hate America"... where are any of your facts?
