No, it doesn't change my perspective about 12 million "illegal" Mexicans & 8 million of the "other" illegals living in the U.S... & I think you are very foolish for asking! Americans citizens who reside in Mexico pay their own way. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! American citizens would never go to Mexico & demand social services from the Mexican government. Even if they ever got the nerve to do that... It wouldn't get them very far, because Mexico doesn't put up with what America puts up with. America needs to adopt Mexicos immigration laws. It's working for them, but draining America. I can't understand why you can't see these valid points. It totally amazes me that you ask such ridiculous questions & you genuinely seem clueless to what is going on in the U.S.!!!

I'd say a fair number of those Americans you're talking about were origianlly Mexicans, or the sons and daughters of Mexicans and decided to go home to retire, or set up a business, etc. Not all, by any means, but a lot. Of course, it is close, Anglos go down there, have a good time, decide to stay, etc. Plus, not every American who marries a Mexican decides to bring their spouse here. Some Americans decide to live down there with their Mexican spouses. And they have children, who are registered at the embassy and consulates as American citizens. After a century or two of living side by side, these things happen.

I believe that you need to do a little bit more research. Your intent seems to be that if there are Americans living in Mexico, then why all of the fuss over illegals coming to America. Your premise is unfair, lacks truth, validity, and demonstrates the poorest of research effort. Wile there may be a m million Americans living in Mexico, you haven't stated "WHY". If it is for jobs, they certainly are not making what Mexico pays as a wage. The list, in part, would be business owners, employees of American companies that require them to be there, and those who have chosen to retire there. While it seems that you can't, be fair, know what you are talking about, and tell the whole story. It is very hard for an American to get a job in Mexico, even if it is to fill a position in an American company that has moved them there. What our people have to face to get a job, even as just outlined, in Mexico, then Mexicans should have to face the same interrogation to get a job in America.

Its not a question of Mexicans living in the USA ; Its about "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS" people who have enter into this country illegally and are creating all kinds of problems for this country and its legal citizens.
Those US cit zens living there in Mexico are not there illegally they didn't sneak across the border to get there and they are no doubt very rich and spending wads of US dollars there. Mexico is a lovely place ...if you're rich..In fact if an American cit zen slipped into Mexico illegally and got caught he or she would at best surely be deported and possibly rot in A Mexican jail. Mexico has a very strict immigration policy....

Absolutely not.
100% of the U.S citizens there are there legally and with the permission of the Mexican government.
In fact I think the United States should adopt the same policies towards undocumented aliens that Mexico has regarding undocumented aliens coming in from Central America thru the Mexican southern border.
They are entitled to zero health care.
Their children cannot attend public schools.
The can recieve zero government benefits.
If they report a crime, they have zero protection from being deported.
Fair is fair

Neither you nor the article suggests the Americans are looking for jobs in Mexico while the Mexicans in America are definitely looking for jobs.
"Minimum wage" is pretty much a joke in some areas -- those jobs don't exist any more because Mexicans are doing all of them for cash wages (and less than 'minimum wage') and thus the employers have let go of all their low level American workers.
Since I'm 55 and a college guy, it doesn't affect me so much, but new high school grads in any major American city will tell you that it is tough to get a decent job. They can't even get a starter job -- because there are none for US citizens any more.

The data you have is a bit dated. In the years since real property ownership rights were extended to foreigners that number has more than doubled. Real estate prices are comparatively cheap and the cost of living dramatically lower than in most US low.
There are strict visa requirements that are enforced by the Mexican government.

Here's the difference, my friend. The Americans in Mexico are spending THEIR OWN money, not the Mexican governments. And frankly the weather is great in Mexico. So are the people. The American emigres offer work to native Mexicans.

First off, 100% of those Americans living in Mexico are there legally. Big difference from the Mexicans who come here where less than half are legal. Second, while the legal Americans there are contributing to the Mexican economy, the illegal Mexicans here are creating a shadow economy that is feeding crime.
