Did the thief on the cross whom Jesus said would be in paradise need to be Baptized?

What if you and your friends were witnessing on the street and someone accepted Jesus and on their way to a church to get baptized they get hit by a truck, are they gonna go to hell?

Water baptism is necessary to those who believe in it. My personal belief is the Word of the Gospel that washes the mind with truth. As Christ said "I am the Truth the Light and the Way"That is the water baptism, yet Jesus Himself was baptised and so was I,both by water and the Word.
