It makes you feel good however there are people out there that you are helping and they think you "owe" them, but I suppose they dont know any better.

It doesn't.
People are given community service as another form of punishment rather than a fine they may other wise not be able to afford.
It isn't supposed to make you feel good.
Community work has only one benefit and that is, the state gets a bit of a clean up.

To work in the community without getting anything in return is very rewarding and brings on blessings from on high, it also makes you feel ten feet tall when you see someone smile after you have helped them do something they could not have done themselves. There is no amount of money that you could get paid that would equal that feeling. It is pure joy.

there are different types of community service work...I am a social worker by choice...it is community service work...and it has led me on many strange adventures...I love being of service to my fellow human beings. It makes my heart sing and grows my spirit in ways I would never have imagined...

I did community service once as I couldn't afford to pay a parking ticket and I spent a week end cleaning and cooking for a house full of disabled ladies and I can tell you it didn't make me feel any better, I was in pain and exhausted after it. I can understand why they send people out to do these hideous jobs, it's because no one else is stupid enough to do them.
