Mostly the pro illegals and anti-american ones. If you want to get a point out especially if you are NOT even from this country, then don't insult. I really resent that because I'm American and am certainly NOT lazy. I come from generations of coal miners. You want to talk about hard work, go read about this type of labor and how hard those immigrants had it. Shame on you all for coming here and talking nonsense!!!

Monoply man I think I work just as hard and so do a majority of Americans. Ever occur to you that most Americans want education so that don't have to work those jobs? Brains over muscles.

Tired of the answers, America is fat. Like there are NO fat mexicans or latinos or any other race for that matter. All illegals that come here are so hard working, there are No lazy ones, huh? Who did those jobs before they came?

I don't know what to say; I've picked produce, cleaned nasty apartments, done a number of things to put food in my daughter's mouth.
My grandfather was a sharecropper, for God's sake!
Now my husband and I live very comfortably, but I have damn sure done my share of dirty work.

If you take the illegals out of the equation, Americans will fill the void, believe me!

America is the most productive nation in the world. We have been for the last 10 years and have been in the top 3 with Singapore and japan as long as I can remember. We take the second least amount of days off, and we are offered the least numbers of days off. Japan who is number one in days work are willing to lose their vacation days for the company and only beat us out by one day.
There are several ways to analyze how hard people work. I work with alot of professional immigrants and I find that I work harder than them per hour. Part of the reason is that most of the immigrants I work with have multiple jobs and are too tired to do any of them properly. SO in a way they work harder than me. Also I found that I end up being less productive then them, because part of my job is too make decisions for them. They seem to want to just do the physical part of their job and refuse to do the heavy thinking. I prefer to do the physical work since I'm less likely to get yelled at, but making the big decision is part of a professional's job. LUckily my boss notice those who dump the Hard stuff on others. I waste hours fixing machines in their department which doesn't show up on the paper as work done, while they churn out numbers to show how hard they work. I found that foreign labor generally are less interested in quality, although I do believe that some of the third world countries still exibit old world craftmanship. The problem is that when we compare labor from developing countries and that of the US it's like comparing apples and orange. It's more of individual achievement and hard physical labor. They are also more willing to sacrifice safety for production.

As for those who attack people who generalize, It's acceptable to generalize when discussing culture.

In addressing lazy Americans: There are lazy people in every country on the planet.
Speaking as an educated, working American Citizen, I would prefer to see my tax dollars spent on ANY American CITIZEN who's not working, whether by choice or not!
You see, America is their country, they were born here and they belong here. I may not like the fact they don't work if they can, but they earned the right to get public assistance. I resent people coming here from foreign countries with their hands out and nothing to offer!

It's the excuse that corporations have feed to everyone as the reason they fire Americans and then hire immigrants, of course they avoid the admission that they pay the immigrant 25-50% less then an American and the immigrant allow themselves to be abused.

Well familiar with the coal mines, my great-grandad was crushed to death in one. Brutal work & conditions.

Anyhow... don't let those things get to you. There are both hard working and lazy people in every country or culture. A lot of these things are said to incite anger and get people riled up. Just try to ignore it (I know its hard sometimes, I cave in myself on occasion). If no one bites, then the game won't be as much fun for them.

It's their ONLY course of put down they can come up with. It's what they get for not having an American education.

I do not think Americans are lazy. I am one, also, and, am very proud of my father working in construction. It is hard, physical work.

I think that we are seen as overweight, and, since we have "fast" food, one hour photo developing, drive-through weddings, and, contract out a lot of work that we COULD do, some people see it as "lazy". I think perhaps impatient would be a better word?

You are absolutely right. Americans are extremely hard workers. Most "dirty" jobs nowadays still require alot of manual labor. On top of this we have invented things to allow us to live more comfortably.

based on personal experience, you are the exception...

go to any school and look how narcissistic kids are today...
why would they take up manual jobs when BestBuy and Subway pay 8.50 an hour or get a secretary job making 10/hour? I have NEVER seen any teenage kid doing stucco or drywall especially not in the summer months when schools out...

Ive seen the low of the low...the people who will rob you for a crackrock. Ive seen the people who claim kids they dont even have on their taxes and only take cash so the IRS cant get to them...
Ive worked with people who come tax time...magically disappear and their phone magically turn off...

People act shocked to see why businesses hire illegals, please tell me who you would employ from the unskilled manual labor market? the person who I previously mentioned or the immigrant worker who will do a hard days work because back home they cant pay the bills.
