Oh Trust me you will definetly get fit from basic between all the obstacle courses, individual and mass punishments and tiresome ruck marches and daily physical training routines. You do so much exercising until your body wants to quit. But signing up for the Army is way more than physical fitness although it is a major part of it. I was so very out of shape when I was in Basic it was crazy. You will be in the best shape of you life when you are done. But maintaining that shape throughout the rest of your career will be a little challenging. I lost 30lbs from my training at it being summer months I sweated an awful lot. But please consider the hundreds of other things in the Army before joinging just to get in shape. The Army turns civilains in to soldiers ready for war; of course you'll be in shape...they will make you get that way whether you want to or not.

Basic training will get you fit all right (LOL), but you can't just go and then be done when basic is over. The only way to get into basic training is to enlist in the military.

I don't think you can go through the Army but you could probably take some kind of program or class that acts like the Army.

no not without enlisting but look at fitness programs online and allot of people are running boot camp fitness programs and allot of them are former drill SGTs so you get the same treatment fitness wise but not all the fun that goes with it, been in 17 years in the army best way to go if you are not wanting to join

No. You will have to really enlist, basic training is not there just to make you fit its also to mentally train you to be able to function in situations of extreme stress and such, just like how you feel during a battle. Stressed, tired, afraid, dehydrated, hungry, hurt, weary, etc

You can but you will be in for at least 2 years. You're probably better off lookinh up one of the civilian boot camp exercise programs.

Saw your answers to that hippie girl. You called our troops weak. You're the one who is weak and lazy if you can't knock off 15 pounds. Go back to Mexico and eat you pinto beans and rice.

Sure, go see your nearest recruiter CARMELA. Don't be scared by that 4 year contract. It'll build character. Perhaps you'll even learn some respect for our military veterans.
