I'm interested if there was a point in time when reading the words became something deeper. You know, the bible says that the word of God is living and active. I can remember at time when it really penetrated by heart that what I was reading was the living word of God. Would anyone like to share a time when they discovered this as well?

sorry, that should have been "my" heart, not "by".

I believed at the age of 9, but at 45, the Lord spoke to me. For 20 years or so, church wasn't enough. The preacher taught the same message and I hungered for more from God. I left the church, but not God. After about 3 months of solid prayer, God answered in an audible voice. From that moment on my life changed. I hunger for the Lord and for His word which I never get enough of. There is nothing better than to be in God's presence. In His presence we change. He filled me with the Holy Spirit who opened up the Word of God to me. The Holy Spirit teaches, convicts and makes known all things pertaining to the Lord. The Holy Spirit truly comforts and He is called the Comforter. He brings such peace and He opens the Word. He shows favor. He opens a parking spot for me. He clears traffic for me. As I see it, I know it is Him because He knows this pleases me. You won't believe me but I'll tell you any way, but He can take me 250 miles which should take at least 5 hours in 45 minutes or it feels like 45 minutes because I arrive completely rested. He can take me 150 miles and it seems like 30 minutes instead of 3 hours and I arrive rested. I either praise His name all the way or I sing to Him all the way. I keep my mind on Him and He stops time for me. If I fail to do this, 150 miles feels like 6 hours and I am warn out when I get to my destination. I've done this so many times that I know the Lord does it for me.
The Word of God is the most fascinating book and it truly comes alive. Have you noticed how the Holy Spirit recalls things that you've read when you need them? When He lets me witness to people He gives me the verses to quote.
I helped a young mother keep her daughter where the father was accusing her of doing drugs and tried to take her daughter from her. We prayed together in the restroom before going into the courtroom. The words that came out of my mouth when I was called to be her witness were given to me by God. I can write or type all day, but when it comes to speaking I normally stumble some. But not this day, God spoke through me. He is a wonderful Lord. It is so good to know that someone loves me that much. I know the Lord loves me and I love Him..

In 92- then after being deceived I left the church in 96 -then I got pregnant in 01 with my first boy & I would stay up watching MTV and going through the channels I just happened to cross TBN and some other Christian Channel and the Power of God just pulled me right back in and healed all the stuff that held me back the first time.
I think God was always trying to draw me back Finally after being stubborn I decided I had enough of the Worldly garbage and wanted a good childhood for my kid Since I had a bad one. I am so greatful to God for His mercies.
Anyways, Hebrews 4:12 the verse you stated is my favorite.
Its the one that spoke to me and made me realize that God through His Spoken Word,Faith and Trust is Mighiter than we can grasp if we all could understand it better we Can do the things that Jesus and God called and tells us to do.

This is a very good question! As a born-again Christian, some of you might find my answer hard to believe but I first believed in the whole Bible (Genesis to Revelation) as the Inspired, Inerrant and Infallible Word of G-d back when I was in the Mormon Cult! I believed it so much so that though I was a devoted Mormon convert and remained for nearly ten years, I actually believed the Bible to be the Word of G-d though I belonged to a Cult that teaches the Bible cannot be fully trusted.
But G-d was using this for my eventual acceptance of the True Faith and Salvation through the Real Jesus (not the sexually begotten one of Mormonism). Slowly but surely I came to find more and more in Mormonism that was not right according to the Bible. In fact, I even found things about Mormonism that weren't right according to the Book of Mormon.
So what did I do? I started researching old Mormon writings while I was reading the Bible. And though this took much longer than I can ever express in words, G-d got through to me. And on the 28th of October, 1998, I told my (now ex) wife that I was leaving Mormonism because I did not believe it was right. You can imagine what happened as a result. She took the kids and divorced me though divorce is considered a sin in Mormonism, especially a temple marriage that ends in divorce.
But "the Word of G-d is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" as it reads in Paul's Epistle to the Hebrews. It divided Truth from Error for me and led me to Salvation through Faith by Grace in Jesus Christ within a few short months. After I was saved, the Word became even sweeter to me and I love reading the Bible. I honestly think a day without reading and studying at least one chapter of the Bible in-depth is a waste. (I'd rather take three years to read the Bible through one time if I dissect every line than one year or less and not get as much out of it.)
But when I was wrestling with leaving Mormonism or staying, I believe that is when the Bible became something more for me and the words of THE Word became sweeter to me than ever before. It's ironic to say that my sweetest time reading the Bible was when I was a cultist and unsaved but those sweet times led to salvation and thus the indwelling of the Holy Spirit so I could understood the Word of G-d even better.
And remember that Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of G-d as it says in the book of Romans. Jesus is the Living Word of G-d but the Written Word of G-d is the Bible and will always lead a person to an orthodox saving faith in Jesus if one reads it with a spirit of humility and submission to G-d.
Thank you.

Ive grown up knowing the Bible; and I can say that it is in my mind without a doubt true. I have a very scientific mind and I see no reason to doubt its validity. But it became real to me when I memorised the book of James. It's so practical and I experienced the Holy Spirit bringing passages to mind as I was going through various situations. Also, when I memorised 1 corinthians 13 and began to learn what true love was as I experienced some tough situations and pain but continued to love. Love never fails. God has been teaching me to love others and to live in humility

Esther that is a wonderful question and really made me start thinking about just WHEN did the Bible become more clear to me.
I have been a teacher of pre-school all the way to 6th graders in my church. Doing this helped me to study harder and learn more.
I have attended may Bible Studies also.
But I think the real answer has to be: THE CLOSER I AM TO GOD THE MORE I CAN UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE. No matter what the situation, this has to be it for me.

When I was a Catholic and going to grade school, reading and understanding the bible was like studying a foreign language...yrs later, after saying a simple prayer acknowledging my need for a Savior, Jesus Christ, the words became so real, for example I would just read and reread this one verse..in the gospels....in the beginning was the word , and the word was with God..

I was raised In a Pentecostal church and I just always knew that God Is just that "God". But the real experience came about 7 years ago when I received the Holy Spirit ! There Is No High Like The Most High ! He has certainly been patient with me. God Is more real than the breathe we breath. It's not the truth that sets you free, It's the Truth You Know That Sets You Free. You can have all the head knowledge In the world about the Bible. But until the Word Is made Flesh(real) In your life, you really don't know God !

When I became a Christian or about a month before. I had been challenged by some people who visited me from a church I attended to read the Bible at night. It was amazing reading and I understood what I read on top of it all!

Hi sister. I was saved back in 1993 and the more I read the Bible the more I know it's the Word of God. It's really hard to describe what I feel when I read it.
God Bless
P.S.
Pay no attention to the people who want to be rude and nasty. All we can do is pray for them.

What a great question. I was raised christian and always loved knowing God's word- BUT it was not until I was an adult actually that the words of God popped out at me and really transformed me....and they continue to do so through His Holy Spirit! I was probably 24, and I was doing a Revelation bible study.....like I said I always had the fear of the Lord and loved Him with all my heart.....but never really understood as much as I do now. It is like He lifted the veil off of my eyes and uncovered so much I had not known before....and now as I continue to study His word- I see more and more mysteries revealed and just unsearchable things I did not know before, which always brings me back to Jeremiah 33:3- what an awesome verse! We need to apply the word of God to our lives daily. He has SO much to teach us and it is through His word we get that CLOSER walk with Him. That is how he keeps us from straying. Keeps us grounded in Him. Prayer, bible study, fellowship..... and I desire all of these things! Thanks be to HIM!
