heres what i am going to do but i need all the rules if i am going to do this..i am going to go to new york with my dad for winter break which is in about two weeks to get my license and then i am coming back to Florida to exchange it for a Florida license..if u look threw my old questions u can c why i am asking this and why i dont just get my license here..is this possible??? i really dont see how it isnt or if its illegal cuz i kno its not

o my bad by the way people i am egally able to get a license because i am 16 and u onyl have to be 16 in new york but u dont have to hold ur permit for any amount of time to get ur license but here in florida is 1 year so thats y i am doing it

You could get the license in New York, but then you have to take another exam in Florida anyway for an out of state license...

Why don't you go back through your questions and read the link I gave you for getting a license in NY? It explains the fact that you cannot do this in a short period of time. NY drivers licenses for under 18 are more difficult than Floridas. You also will not be considered a resident of NY while visiting.

More than likely, no matter where you get your license, in any state, all the drivers license permits are linked together, either by the original license, your name, address, date of birth, city, state. They will know if you get a license or they will know at the time you apply for a license that you will be legally entitled to get one, no matter what state you are in. If you apply for a license in another state, your info will come up probably with a flag attached, meaning, there will be a story when you reapply for a new license no matter where you are.

You have be a legal resident to get a license from that state, at least with a local address.
Then you have to wait 6-8 weeks to actually get the license so it seems like it would be easier just to get the document in your resident state.
