My birthday was a couple weeks ago and a couple days ago, I received a package from San Francisco Music Company with a music box inside. I didn't order anything, never have from them. I have a feeling a friend of mine might have ordered it online and had it shipped to me for my birthday because she has sent me something from them before (that had no name on it either). My question is, how do I go about finding out who sent it? I feel it's presumptuous to ask this friend if she sent me something (what if she didn't? then, she could feel bad for not getting me anything, etc.) and I wouln't want to put her on the spot like that. However, I want to thank the person who sent it, too.

Just say, "Hey. I'm curious. Do you know who sent me this awesome music box? I want to write them a thank you card, but don't know who to write it to."

Take all the information you have from the package and item, and give the SF music company a call. Tell them you didn't order the package and would like to know who purchased it.

You could put a general thank you on Myspace, or put an ad in the newspaper. If you think you know who sent it, just hang out with her and she'll probably let it slip.

Just ask her, unless she's a giddy 12 year old she wont get her feelings hurt.

If they left it unnamed, they probably wanted to keep it a secret.
