a tattoo could be done in just gray but that isn't the same as "black and gray" and it would look... very gray.

Yes, a tattoo can be done completely in grey, but if you have darker skin it's not going to show up very well. Also, no matter how good an atrist is that works on you, even solid black will get a grey tone to it over the years, that's just the nature of the beast. I have a few black ones that have a slight fade to them, and you'd swear they were done in grey, even with my very light skin tone. Sometimes, depending on the skill of the artist doing your work, the grey areas of a tattoo fade faster for some reason, I'm not sure why. That's the end of my knowledge, hope it helps. Good luck!

It depends a little on your skin tone. Lighter skin will work better, I would not recommend getting a grey tattoo with dark skin.

It also depends on who does your work.

Overall, tattoos done strictly in shades of grey can be awesome pieces of work.

One of mine is grey but with a black outline. Its not as out there as my others but its still noticeable. It looks good on my Irish/Scottish skin.
