Perhaps some Christians, like myself, doubt the ability of the government to lower costs and raise standards, given that the government has screwed up pretty much every program they've ever initiated. Of course, that has little to do with Christianity and more to do with observations of how good government is at not spending incredible amounts of money while failing to achieve much that's worthwhile.

I don't think it's an issue of religion as much as economics.

Economically speaking, some people do not want to cover the cost of insurance for people who do not (for whatever reason) foot the bill for their own health care. Critics see socialized medicine as inferior to medicine in America's market based economy, and they want more control over their own financial resources. They see large government programs as failures that cause too much intrusion in taxpayer's lives.

I'm not sure where I lie on this issue. I'm inclined to oppose it after seeing the problems with socialized medicine in Britain. Some people cannot even get in to see a doctor for simple things like a tooth pull.

Most Christian's dont. It's only the rich ones that do. And unfortunely the rich ones represent the entire population in the government. Kind of like I am sure that not everyone in Kansas (including me) are stark mad republicans. But the rich of this state are republicans and therefore that is how we are presented.

Good question. Why do YOU think a Christian would oppose health insurance coverage for everyone?

Is this yet another attempt to tear down a straw man you created in the vain imagination of your own heart?

Come on now. Why can't anybody ask any legitimate questions in here?

It should not be a religious thing. Why should we give Government more control? It should be free market. Take insurance co. out completely!

Because it weakens the number of soldiers in God's army. Everyone knows that Christianity wins most of its converts from the injured and ill.

Because Christians are not communists.

Christ didn't have health insurance. Neither did his parents. Neither did the apostles.

Neither for that matter did 99.9% of all the humans who have ever lived.

Kinda makes you wonder how we survived this long, doesn't it?
