Christians believe that Jesus died on a cross. While on the cross Jesus received the penalty for sin. This penalty was paid by him for us. So that we would not have to bear the penalty of sin.

if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for sins you will be saved.

Before you even start to ask about sin, read the Bible (online). Read the parts where it says the earth is flat, held up by stone pillars, with a crystalline dome above it. The sun and moon and stars produce their own light, and they are all attached to the bottom of this dome. Above the dome sits God, in heaven.

If this all sounds reasonable to you, then go ahead and research more about Christianity. If not, then realize the Bible is fiction, God is fiction, and Jesus is fiction.

Here's a good website to start with. It separates the Bible into sections: women, science, absurdity, cruelty and intolerance, family values, etc. It will give you a better idea of Christianity from the inside out.

I do not believe you or I were born with original sin, caused because Adam & Eve ate fruit in the Garden of Eden. That is what Jesus died for and what God let his son be killed for. Is this something that makes sense to you?

Too many people hear about heaven and hell and get scared, thinking it is real. Don't let yourself be "sucked in" to this notion. Better to research some other religions as well, how the ancient Egytians thought their pharoahs would go to the Polar stars when they died. The Polar stars never "set" giving the elusion of eternal life. Christianity has built on this idea, but since the Bible says God and heaven sit on this dome over the flat earth, you can see logically it is not true. And exactly where would "Hell" be? It made some sense if the earth was flat, held up by pillars, but we know what is in the earth, and it is not suffering humans.

May you find the truth you are seeking.

Let me first thank the Japanese for their help in understanding neutrinos(the ghost particle). Duck Phup & brandycat5 have given you very good answers to your question. Let me add that there have been thousands of God's, and many culture's seem to think they have the Hot God. Christianity was a break-away from Judaism, and Islam is a break from those two, all three were influenced by Persia and Eygypt. Bottom line is that the three religions are about 2000 years old, came from the Middle East, and are delutions of males from that time and place.

It would be fair to know where you are from and what you know of religion or Christianity.

God is the Creator of the Universe. He created the earth and all that is on it. Man chose to disobey God and do things his own way. God made a way for man to come back to Him, by sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins. When we believe and accept this, we can choose to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When we make this commitment, we are "saved" - that is, we are saved from judgment of sin, since we accepted Jesus and repented of all sin and endeavor to live a life pleasing to Him.

You are from Japan, a primarily Buddhist country. However, there should be Bibles available somewhere there (local library, or bookstore?) Read the Gospel of John in the New Testament. If you can't get a Bible, look up Bible websites like biblegateway.com - many of these sites have translation in Japanese, too.

Kon’nichi wa!

There are three main branches of Christianity: Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant. Within these three branches are minor sub-sects. Almost all believe the same thing, but they tend to put emphasis on different aspects of the teachings of Jesus, so they differ in matters of degree which are too subtle to really cover here.

All Christians believe in one supreme and purely good god who made all things. Christians believe that this god has three parts, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. God made spirits called Angels to help him, but some of these spirits rebelled and became evil demons. The strongest evil angel is called the Devil, or Satan, or Lucifer.

"Sin" is basically evil thoughts, evil words, or evil deeds. Christians believe that the original Man and Woman rebelled against God in the beginning, and as a result, every human is born with an evil side that makes all people selfish and cruel to some extent.

Christians believe that a part of God came to Earth and took on human form (Jesus). We believe that Jesus lead a perfectly good life, in order to set an example for us.

Christians also believe that following the example of Jesus, by itself, is not enough to earn a person’s way into Heaven when he dies. We also believe that the evil thoughts, evils words, and evil deeds (sin) that we have done in this life need to be paid for. All evil actions, thoughts, and words are crimes against God, and all crimes against God must be paid for by death. Jesus allowed himself to be beaten and killed as a substitute for us. His suffering satisfied God’s sense of justice, so that God could forgive people’s sins without compromising his dignity.

Christians believe that if a person dies without having his sins forgiven, then God cannot allow that person into Heaven. That person is cast out into Hell forever, so it is very important to have your sins forgiven. Hell is the prision of the Devil and the demons.

Being "saved" means that you sins are forgiven by Jesus, and that your basic nature has been purified by God the Holy Spirit, so you can be free from your bad habits (sins), and so that you do not have to go to Hell when you die.

The first link explains how Christians believe that Jesus forgives sins (once you click on it, scroll down the page to the link that says "Japanese"). The other links explain basic Christian beliefs. I hope that this helps.

Around 85% of Americans are 'Christians'... believe in Jesus... a fictional character who was dreamed up about 2,000 years ago. The whole thing is a huge fraud that has been in operation for about 1,700 years. They are selling the ILLUSION of salvation (their god will torture their souls for all eternity, if they do not behave like he wants them to... but he will SAVE them from this torment if they comply) and the PROMISE of eternal life in a gold-plated mansion in an imaginary place called 'heaven'.

In other words.. 85% of the adult population of the USA is nuts (baka, desu)... and the inmates are running the asylum.

The best advice is to just stay away from those people... or squirt them in the face with one of those fake water-squirting flowers.

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat a piece of fruit from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe such outrageously ridiculous nonsense.

P.S.: A 'sin' is basically a crime against god... that is, something that god does not want you to do. Essentially, anything that is fun, or feels good, is a sin. Also, things that we generally regard as a 'crime' are sins, too... except that their god does not seem to have any objections to wife-beating, slavery or genocide.

We have several religious beliefs, and most of them are incompatible with eachother. The largest portion of our society believes in a deity called Jesus, who was also the supreme god that came to earth so that humans could kill him so that he could forgive them for being human. I know, it makes no sense. Stay away from popular American religions. They are to be avoided at all costs.

I believe when you die there are two things that can happen. You will either go to heaven or hell. If you are saved (have accepted Jesus as your LORD and Savior ) then you will go to heaven. If you have chose to turn your back on the truth then you will go to hell.
We will never be perfect and that is what is so great about Jesus. Once you have accepted Him as your Lord and savior, the old is washed away and you are made new in Him. He forgives all of your sins, past present and future! Jesus loves us!
Thank you Jesus!

Ok, lets start from the begining. "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." That is a statement from the Bible. what it means is that you and I and all of your friends have have sinned, or done some kind of wrong, in our lives. This includes lies of any kind, cheating, no matter how little, stealing, premarital sex, drugs, even thinking hatefull thoughts toward others. We do these things because we are just human and we are not perfect. None of ever could be. But God sent His only Son to earth, to live as a man without sin or fault. And He did. Now sin requires a price to be paid. Just like if you steal you go to jail, sin requires people to go to hell. By living a perfect life and then later dying on the cross for all of us, Jesus paid the price that all of us would have had to pay. He died for a moment so that we could live for eternity. Three days after He died Jesus rose from the grave, and now He is alive forever more. All those who ask Jesus into there hearts and ask God to be the Lord of their lives will be forgiven of all of their sins and allowed into heaven. And the nice thing is that it doesn't matter how great your sins are because the blood of Jesus Christ is enough to forgive them all.

If you would like to ask Jesus into your heart all you have to do is "Confess your sins with your mouth and believe in you heart that God is who he says he is, and you will be saved"
You only have to say this simple prayer. Jesus, I ask that you would come into my heart. I know that I am a sinner and and I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you are God and I ask that you would be the lord of my life and walk with me forever.
If you said these words and meant them with your heart, then welcome to the family of God. You should also find yourself a good church to start going to and get a Bible and start reading it. I would recomend a Calvary Chapel for a church as they seem to preach the word of God without adding anything to it. If you have not said the pray above because you are still unsure, Then I would suggest that you pck up a Bible and read the Book of Mattew in the New Testament. It will tell you about the life of Jesus and all that He has done for us. I will Keep you in My prayers.
