God is eternal. As such, words like "when," "then," "some point in time," etc are not applicable.
Theologians say God exists "outside of time." That means it just doesn't make sense to apply temporal ideas to Him, like "At what point in eternity did He realize He was loney and create stuff?"
For God, past, present and future are all one big NOW.
And I wouldn't say either that God has no desires: He desires the love of His children: Us.

1. God and the living entity(us) are eternal.
2. God creates the material universe from time immemorial.
3. The reason is the since we are eternal and living with God, at some point we decided not to serve God anymore, so God created this universe for us to come here.
4. God loves every living being because he is the father of all, not just mankind.
God lives in the spiritual world with innumerable living beings serving Him with love, He is never alone. Certainly He has desires, He is a person, the Supreme Person.

We do not know everything about God or what all he has created and what he has been doing for all eternity. It will be really fun to find out when we get there (Heaven).

You would have to ask God that question. Maybe he created other worlds before, and we are just the latest version.

God IS Love, so there really is no motivation for Him/Her ro acquire it,
God is all knowing and He?She tries to help us to learn how to take care of ourselves by sharing himself with us, Meaning to love us as we should love Him/Her and each other.

Good question, why don't you pray and ask God to explain it to you. He would be the only one who would know the answer.
God be with you,
