My ex-mother in law never wanted to be cremated because she felt she wouldnt be brought out of the grave. Is this a universal belief. Personally, I believe God can do anything regarding this, as well its much more ecofriendly and saves space in our earth. What are your thoughts?

Gal: The marketing for funeral homes is disgusting! My grandma is 93 and recently had my mom go through the process of picking out the casket/arrangements, etc. Not including a plot/headstone but just for a coffin, burial, and a couple hours of coffee afterwards, they are charging her 10,000 this is her entire nest egg. Oh and her coffin is very modest.

I agree with you.

It says in the Bible that we return to dust - cremation just speeds that along a bit.

The body decays after death, no doubt. All that is left over time would be the skeleton, and after time, it goes, too. So, God will have many to "rebuild" on the day of resurrection. He can do this, He is God, after all.

No, it's not a universal belief. I hope to be cremated, simply because burial is so expensive. Some people do believe that if they are cremated, their bodies won't be resurrected.

I do hope, though, that funeral homes don't start using the term "eco-friendly" in their advertising.

If God can bring someone back from the dead he can figure out what to do with a cremated body. Besides you have to figure a lot of bodies actually disintegrate or are just blown apart or eaten by sharks. God will find you though.

By this logic, what if you cremate yourself, will Satan not find you either?

Being cremated will have nothing to do with the resurrection some day, our bodies turn back into dust anyway so I don't see the difference. I also know some people who have a real problem with this though. They can't prove it by the Bible though.

I don't see cremation being a problem. Think of all the people who served God back to the beginning of time. Nothing would be left of their bodies.

The Catholic Church allows cremation, "provided it does not demonstrate a denial of faith in the resurrection of the body" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2301). This heresy was the original reason the Church formerly forbade cremation. But now it is allowed, subject to the condition given.

I see no problem with it. My mother-in-law was Christian and was cremated. Besides what about the bodies of the people buried at sea? I am sure they were fish food and are now scattered all over the bottom of the sea.

throughout on the present time and time we would desire to evaluate what's terrific for the international. while burials first began happening it replaced into probably seen unique, specific, and so it appeared like a stable theory. yet now? I decide to be cremated. loads of non secular regulations got here out of social duty matters. it's time to re-examine our eternal tendencies.

the flesh is dirt and nothing more than a vessel which holds the spirit/ruach/pneuma.

all flesh goes back to the dirt so why not assist the transition with a lil' fire?

after death, your flesh/corruption is transfigured into incorruption/transfigured body/supernatural body. you have no use for the dirt and corruption any longer. it's worthless.

nothing wrong with it and it's not against anything biblical.

i have no problem with cremation...although my oldest kid heard me discussing it with my wife and she burst into tears-she's pretty adamant against my being cremated-of course, when the time comes, it will most likely be my wife who will make the decision
