I was awakened a week or so ago out of dead sleep by a demonic presence that felt like it was lying in bed behind me, right next to my ear, with a knife held to me....I was paralyzed in my body..it was so strong it felt like someone was really there...but I knew no one was. All I could say was "Jesus" over and over, and finally the presence 'let go of me' and went away.

Have you ever experienced a demonic presence?

thats a little thing called sleep paralysis

happens to me a lot, its no big deal, just dont worry about it

edit: yes, sensing an entity's presence is *very* common with sleep paralysis, often i feel as though if i open my eyes i will be staring some freakish being in the face, and i have auditory hallucinations, etc.

its really no big deal, just relax:)

Hello, Let me just tell you that I have had similar experiences in the past. I had just begun to study with Jehovah's Witnesses when these dreams or experiences started. The person I was having the study with told me that something in my house was demonized. He told me to look for religious symbols around my house.

I lived with my mom at the time as she had a picture of Jesus in her bedroom. As I went to grab it I felt a very strong chill and her entire room filled up with an evil presence. To make a long story short I took it out and burned it.

I never experience those dreams again. I also abandon studying with the JW's but Im thinking of going back. By the way, in one of those dreams I felt myself been elevated and a deep voice telling me to leave Jehovah. I have never been that scared in my life. I also saw black shadows on the wall and like you felt paralized and I couldn't move.

Since the Bible warns us not to have religous symbols of worship you might want to check your house and through these out. also, next time this happens, call on Jehovah to see what happens. Also, thanks for your answer on the question about Why God is cold. You are totally right. I was the one that abandon God. God bless you. Mike.

I never have had that happen but I think it can. The Demons are constantly trying to tempt us and make us fall, at all times of the day. just fight him off by telling him to leave in Jesus name out loud. They hate to hear the name of Jesus.

Yes I have. I use too wake up and I would not be able to move or breath and it would not go until I would say Jesus over and over in my mind. You have to know who you are in Christ and the authority God has given you. God has given Christians all power and authority over satan and his devils but you have to use it. If it happens again speak the word of God to it and tell it to go in Jesus name because it has no right to bother you. I would also suggest that you get some olive oil and pray over it then anoint your whole house and anoint yourself. Tell anything that is not like Jesus to go and ask for God to surround you with his warrior angels, tell the devil that he does not belong in your house and he is trespassing on Holy ground ( make sure to anoint yourself as well). Since I have done these things I have not had that problem anymore.

Yes. I've seen them, and they are extremely scary. However, if you have the Holy Spirit in you, they cannot possess you. And, you are right, when you say the name of Jesus, they will go away. Are you a Christian? I'm asking that because demons often bother them. I've been told by my nephew, who is a pastor, that whenever he is bothered by a demon, he simply says, "Ok, if you don't leave, then I'll pray for 10 people to be saved." If it still bothers him, then, he prays for more people. He says it works because satan doesn't want to cause us to pray for anyone, or bring anyone to Christ. I've done that myself, and it does work, but your heart has to be right with God. God Bless

This is NOT sleep paralysis! It is a demonic spirit. For those of you who asked why they bother Christians more than non-Christians, the answer is simple. They know we belong to God, and they want to pull us away from Him. Why would they go after non-believers? The devil already has them.
I've also experienced something similar to what they call "sleep paralysis" It is when you cannot move your body, but your mind wants to move. It's NOT THE SAME THING! Those who do not have a DESCERNING HEART cannot tell one from the other. They will try to scientifically explain things away, like they always do. There IS a spiritual realm. Jesus said He cast out demons. I BELIEVE HIM! Not some scientist's explaination.

Yes. I have had similar experiences when I was a young Christian. Don't give in to fear. Remember it is your responsibility to resist the devil and his demons.
James promises this:
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7

I could also cite many other passages.
Peter says:
"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings." I Peter 5:8-9

Perhaps God is sending a wake up call. The Devil is deadly serious. We need to be as serious.
Stay prayerful. Read the Word - especially the New Testament, also the Psalms. God has made you to be an overcomer - In Jesus Name! Amen!

So instead of the doctor you came online to ask others if theyve experienced a "demon" themselves. Go see someone about this, and not a priest or something! Go see a doctor, perhaps a psychiatrists. Some quick meds, some relaxation-you'll be fixed and not have to bother that Jesus guy with all your little problems.

It can very well be due to demonic oppression which differs from possession , many who have chosen the right path experience this from time to time and it is the demons way of trying to turn believers away from God, but it is just silly scare tactics that if ignored simply go away.
To dwell on such an event and worry over it is to allow victory to the enemy, you have the remedy already and have used it, the holy name of Jesus.

I love the answer of "sleep paralysis".
I know from similar experiences that this is not your imagination, but of course Satan has to come up with his plausible explanation so as not to alarm too much those he is dragging off to hell.
I suppose for the first thousand years in hell they will be saying "this is just my imagination".
Heaven is real.
Hell is real.
The Devil is Real.
But God is the ultimate reality.
He has given us His Son.
Take courage, and return to your rest.

Something similar did occur to me once. I, like you, defeated the enemy in the Name of Jesus Christ
Although sleep paralysis is a possibility in your case, that is not a given. It is also possible that you were indeed visited by a demon. Those who are still in the flesh have no understanding of such things.
