OK...this is the most asked question about becoming a fighter pilot/ military pilot in general...I myself was nervous going into my flight physical before commissioning and also at the infamous NAMI physical in Pensacola!
NAMI requires prospective student naval aviators to have 20/40 uncorrected vision or better in each eye which is correctable to 20/20. The fact you have better does not matter..the selection board looks at those people who are qualified physically and selects them on class standing/grades/ recommendations.
Once you are designated a student aviator AFTER the nami wami physical in Pensacola before api your vision can go downhill considerably...and then the navy will pay for PRK. (lasik is of limits as of now)...other vision requirements are to pass their depth perception test and have perfect color vision and a astigmatism no greater than 1.25 diopters ( i believe)
I know i may have over answered the question but I hope it clears any doubt up...any more questions...hit me up

The vision requirements for Class 2 Flying qualifications are distant vision of 20/50 or better uncorrected and near vision of 20/50 or better uncorrected. Correction must give a result of 20/20 in both eyes.

Depends on what you want to fly. I believe with corrected vision you can only fly rotary wing or cargo planes. You need 20/20 uncorrected to fly fighters. Good news though. Last I heard the Navy was the only service to let people with PRK surgery fly fighters.

Hmm good question. I guess you meet the minimum requirements. I don't think it would put you above someone else as long as they have 20/20. It's all going to be test scores and passing training. Good luck.
