I am not jewish obviously, but i have read a lot about this holiday(for lack of better term, holiday). and decided to observe it in my christian faith. its also called the day of atonement. You go out and seek or give forgiveness to others so that at sunset you can atone for your sins against God, pray and fast.

What a lovely post!
I will say to you the traditional thing that Jews say to each other for this: 'I wish you well over the fast.'
And to you also, shanah tovah - happy new year! (Jewish new year was last week).
EDIT: on the offchance that this applies to you, do remember that anybody who needs to take medicines for any reason MUST still do so, and with food and drink if necessary; this is Jewish law, as health comes first!

I heard something about the day of atonement this morning on (Christian) TV, sounds like an interesting idea. I will definitely be looking into it for next year. Maybe even tomorrow if I have time.

There are groups of Christians who not only observe Yom Kippur but also observe Passover as well. They do this in appreciation of our Jewish heritage. And because our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was first and foremost a Jew who observed both while here on earth.

I don't celebrate it. Personally, as a Christian, there's no need to. All of our sins have been forgiven through Christ Jesus. There's no need to atone for anything now- the price has been paid. For me, that would be like saying Christ's sacrifice wasn't enough, so we need to sacrifice more bulls and goats in order to pay the price for our sins. That is a little insulting to the Lord.
However, there's certainly nothing wrong with trying to make things right between yourself and others, so in that respect, it would a nice thing to do if you choose to do so.

yes, I have heard about this holiday and i would like to participate in it.What day of the year is celebrated on? I also heard that the Jews do not do any work on this day.If the Jews are entrepreneurs, they do not allow their employees to work on this day either. They keep this day holy, sacred and separate. If I have missed it this year, I will participate in it next year!!!Good luck with it!!!
