Like some other questions in this place, I'm asking myself and asking you why do people drink and drive knowing the consequences!? It is not only irresponsable, but stupid, and if we know that so well, why do we keep doing it?! Do we really care?! Or is it pure bullsh*t to make us look like moral and correct people?! About 4 people of my family had car accidents with drunks... 1 of them was my grandmother, 90 years old, almost die... And think it could be you next time...
P.D: I have a very "shocking" PP slideshow... Is about car accidents with drunk people, it has the REAL thing... If u want to see it send me an e-mail to: am_tf_07@hotmail.com
No virus nor things like that, just information...
Thnx...

Last year, 2006, 17,602 people were killed in alcohol related crashes. That was 41% of the total number of people killed in all traffic accidents. So, 41% of all traffic related deaths had some type of alcohol influence. Drunk or impaired driving killed nearly 18,000 people in 2004. That was one person every 32 minutes.
That is why many states, including my state, have initiated the "Over the Limit, Under Arrest" drunk driving campaign.
I have seen the results of accidents you mentioned. Some victims are killed, physically handicapped for the rest of their lives, and others miraculously walk away. While many times the drunk driver escapes with no bodily harm.
People who drink and drive have no respect for themselves or for their fellow motorists.

One of the issues with being drunk is that alcohol in the system impairs judgement. The same effect that causes a drunk driver to drive too fast, or miscalculate the clearence between the vehicle and an obstruction, is the same effect that makes a driver decide that he is not drunk enough to be a problem. In other words, the LAST person who should make that decision is the drunk person.
It may not be that the person does not care. It may be that the person does not know. That does not excuse the behavior, and, luckily, our society and law enforcement now recognizes that a responsible adult should recognize the risk BEFORE drinking, and that no one should depend on recognizing the risk AFTER one has begun drinking. The point is, that a drunk person is not irresponsible, but the sober person who decides to drink, knowing that they might have to drive, later IS irresponsible. That person is going to be held liable if something goes wrong, or is caught.
Anyone who has had a previous DUI should know that even more than one who has not. That is why a second, or subsequent conviction carries more severe penalties.

When you are drinking you loose your inhabitions! You'll approach a girl you normally wouldn't, shoot off to someone who could kick your *** on your best day!, and you think you can operate a motor vehicle without impairment.
If I've had just a couple of drinks, I wouldn't drive. If I had several, I thought I was fine. (The whole ten foot tall and bullet proof thing)
Thankfully drinking and driving is becoming less and less socially acceptable. I know it was quite common 20 years ago when I was in my late teens/ early twentys. Kids today are a lot more responsible.
There will always be a certain element of society that will continue to d & d, but progress is made every day.
Bottom line when you are under the influence, you think you are able to drive when you cannot, and your judgement is altered enough to get behind the wheel.

"Answers I've Heard No Matter How Lame" 1; it doesn't effect my driving, as they stagger blindly out to their car if they car find it. 2; I'll just drive slower, as they stagger blindly to their car if they can find it. 3; Officer I only had one beer, as the officer wakes up the sleeping driver, then jumps back so when the driver barfs it doesn't get on him. 4; Yeah, I can't stand! but if I have 10 cups of coffee I'll be OK, then they stagger blindly out to their car if they can find it.
Accidence's happen to the other guy not me, I'm a better driver even with a few (8 or 10) drinks, till they KILL some one!

These type of people have a real problem. If you drink and drive it shows not only do you not care for your safety you dont care for others. These people when caught by the police should spend some real time in jail and loose the right to drive forever.
