Organ donors are donors because they agree with you (me too!) The people who have not yet signed their donor card may be squeamish for a variety of reasons. I understand some people have religious objections.
How do you feel about donating blood? You don't have to wait until you die.

In certain cases like this one, where the recipient is literally located in the same hospital I see no reason why it cant be done? My brother received a bone marrow transplant, that was unsuccessful, back in 1995 and regardless, I really wish we could have known who the donor was... I think the connection, whether it is an organ or bone marrow or whatever, really affects and sticks with the families on both sides and it does give some closure in a sense. I do not agree though, that race or religion should play any part in choosing or denying. In this situation, if it gives the parents of Kaylee some peace, then why not allow them to make the choice at least they will find some comfort in that and give them some healthy *closure*. They are not chosing for any other reason than the little girl is right there in the same hospital and they can feel the pain anguish of Lillians parents. The time line is so narrow to deliver an organ as well, may as well let Lillian have a chance, she is right there waiting. If it were one of my own children in Kaylee's position, I would hope the world would not judge me for my decisions on organ donation, and perhaps show some compassion for their situation and the decision they are forced to make.

I also am an organ donor. I happen to agree with you and the other person that said we won't be needing them when we are dead. If I can help save a life of someone else when I'm gone so be it.

Once I'm done using them, they're free for the taking.
I've been an organ donor for several decades. I really don't care what happens to my body after I'm dead, and hope that somebody can find something useful to do with it.

I believe it's a good idea yet I've heard things like that if you're in critical condition, close to death, or maybe your heart gave out, then won't resussitate you because you're a donor and they want the organs. Something like that. I'm not exactly sure.

My only problem with organ donation is that sometimes there is gray area about whether you are dead or alive and I don't want the physicians pulling my plug early just so they can get an organ they need.
This is probably an unreasonable fear, but that's where I stand right now.

I feel a little weird about it. I think it is fine for people to do, but I know I would have a hard time having a dead person's organs in me. -s

i am an organ donor as well and i feel the EXACT same as you. If i'm dead, or close to it, i'm not gonna need my organs, so why not give them to someone to save their lives? but some other people feel that is inhumane...idk, if your dead, why or how do you care?

I think it's the right thing to do, honestly. 'Cause, you're not really going to be needing them once you're gone so why not give them to someone who needs them? It's definitely something I will be doing.
Then again, I'm also the kind of person who is trying to save the world one person at a time. Lol. So, it's really a personal self-decision to make.

I totally agree. I believe that when I die, I'm going to heaven. It would be completely selfish of me to 'keep' stuff I am not using or even taking with me. If there's workable organs someone living can use, take 'em!
