1. Love yourself.
2. Don't care what other people think.
3. The friends you have who don't like you after 1 & 2 above were not your friends. The ones who stay friends are true friends.
4. Accept your friends as they are.
5. No matter what, remember that you are decended from the very beginning of life on Earth. You're odds of ever being were so remote that your existence should be celebrated every second of every day. You are the most unique person that has ever existed. Anyone who comes in contact with you will never experience that feeling again. Relish in that uniqueness.
6. When loss happens to you (ie: your Mother dies), think how they would have wanted you to live.
7. And the most important think is a combination of #1 & #2: Don't live your life as some else wants you to...Don't care what other people think. You are you! Be happy about it!

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.
Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Be yourself. Practice self-acceptance no matter what. Never do something you're not comfortable with. You'll respect yourself for sticking to your guns, and that self-respect will make you happy.
Set goals. Live up to them. When you accomplish a goal, it's a great feeling. If you put all your failures down to other people, you put yourself in their power. Take responsibility for when things go wrong in your life.
Keep learning. Whether it is a new hobby or a new dance, just keep learning something that interests you. Just find a new interest and go for it!! It will give you something to keep you occupied, and a new outlook on life.
Have laughter. Read a joke book. Learn a joke, and tell it to a family member or friend. Watch a comedy movie. If given a choice of recreational activities, pick something that makes you laugh.
Be healthy. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and ensure that you get all the vital vitamins and minerals that your body requires for its optimal biochemical functioning. Supplement your diet with the appropriate vitamins and minerals. Get plenty of exercise.
Develop a strong relationship with your family. If you want a stronger relationship with your family, you're going to need to be honest with them.
Keep in close touch with relatives and a small circle of friends. You can't beat their love and support.
See a psychologist. Psychologists now know what makes people happy.

There is no real way to keep yourself away from stress as it is an everyday reality as for depression I have lived with it for 15 years the best thing you can do is see your doctor there are some very good medications for these things and they can also help with anxiety. Each medication works differently with each person but I have found Lexapro and Ativan work best for me....Always that remember while depression is a normal emotion, thoughts and feelings of suicide need to be discussed IMMEDIATELY with a proffesional.

I think you can make yourself always see the positive side of things, except the truly tragic. If there's bad weather on a vacation, I notice how easy it is to get a restaurant reservation; if someone I know is hurt, I think how lucky they are it wasn't worse; if I have too much work and not enough time, I think about how all my deadlines will soon be over (and probably forgotten); and so on.

I stay away from stressed out, depressed people whenever possible. Also, when I get up in the morning I try to think of things that I'm grateful for.

To decrease stress, plan out your schedule, go for a walk, take time for yourself. As for depression I would say there are people out there worse than you, even if you don't think so, there are. Also try going to the tanners, it releases endorphins (things that elevate mood) that's what I do. Just remember everything will get better, depending on what your depression is about. Everything that happens to you happens for a reason.
