How bad will you feel if it turns out you have been wrong in your argument all along.
For the Pro McCann's eventually found guilty of murder
For the anti McCann's found innocent of Murder and abduction is proved.
(ok you have to forget the neglect issue here, I know its a big part of the case but for now, that is not what I am talking about).
Myself, classed as a 'pro' McCann will accept that my judgement was so wrong, although I never agreed for one minute about leaving them alone, but I do not believe they have harmed her in anyway, so my faith in human nature would take yet another severe knock.
(PLEASE LEAVE THE NEGLECT ISSUE OUT, IM TALKING ABOUT MURDERING THEIR OWN CHILD).
How would you feel if you have been wrong all along?

Made in England, you are right. I tried to word the question so that it was fair on both sides, so many questions similar to this alienate the very people you want to answer.

When I started reading your thread my heart sank because there have been several of these in the last couple of days but Lexy, thank you for writing it without the usual crappy insinuations of evilness that have seemed to of been the point of the others.
As you know I'm ProMaddie (the old AntiMcCann:) and therefore my beleif is not necessarily that they have had the major hand in all this but that their actions since that awful night have been (in my opinion) reproachful. If they are completely innocent I wouldn't feel bad for anything I have said as I didn't set out to dislike them, it just kind of crept up on me.
My opinion is that it is unlikely that she will be found alive and well, she may well possibly be found alive, but my feeling is that she's dead. I hope (which is why I get upset with all this rubbish PR false story thing) that they have no involvement at all in her death because there are two small babies out there who would stand to lose not only their sister but their mummy and daddy too if that were the case.
Basing this on the probability that she is already dead - for me they would have to actually find the person that took her as them not getting convicted without any other leads wouldn't be enough to stop me having my doubts about them. It's an honest answer. Unless they mange to convict someone else for it I'm afraid I will always wonder.
Thank you for asking your question in a way that doesn't instantly put people on the defensive.
gold star for Lexy

First thing LEXY even in Portugal you have to prove Guilt not Innocence. So shall we take that if somebody else other than the McCanns is found guilty there is two things I would consider.
1) does the person found guilty look like a scapegoat patsy, i.e some poor begger who just about knows what planet he is on let alone bneing able to defend himself against the charges (see a history of the police miscarriages of justice in high profile cases ie the dumbest looking guy on the block ends up in prison while the real culprit is still at large)
2) I would be extremely surprised and have ask WHY the McCanns acted like they did since Madeleine went missing which seems bizarre.
3) I have always said I will leave YA once charges are brought and leave justice to take its course, so therefore wont be around for either my or somebody elses 'I told you so's
EDIT: ha ha how many said I'm not Pro or Anti McCann I just think that they are definately innocent... ha ha... love it.

I've been anti-McCann from the very second Maddie disappeared, even pondering (and consequently flamed for it) on here who will play Gerry McCann in the long awaited inevitable film. And where the book signing will take place.
It will never happen that I am totally off the mark as to my small minded thinking if she is dead then they deserve to be charged as accessories
It will be of no consequence if I am proved in part wrong as I am, like everyone else on here, entitled to have and voice an opinion.

I don't think they have done anything to madeleine....If I'm wrong, I will feel devastated, not for me, but for the wider family and friends who obviously are 110% behind Kate and Gerry, but mostly for little madeleine. Who can comprehend that a tiny, trusting, loving child could be hurt by those she loves and trusts the most. I will also feel angry at the time, money, and anguish both portugese and british police will have spent on the case. But as I say, I don't think this will be the case.

Oh, i hate answering these McCann Q's, but i like the aim of your Q Lexy. I'm on neither side of the fence, nor sitting uncomfertably on it. I'm watching from a galaxy far far far far far far far aaaawwwwwaaaaaay.
However, if folks can't admit they're wrong, then they shouldn't be arguing a case. They have no case to argue other than to wind others up, and as a bystander, they are doing a grand job.
I find the whole subject on here repulsive at times, though that is no reflection on any users of the site as i don't know these people personally. The interweb offers people many personalities, many more than we carry out day to day.
I hope the case comes to a close soon, with a child alive.

On this occassion I would love to be proved wrong - I do not take satisfaction in seeing innocent people do time for a crime they did not commit. I don't know if the McCanns murdered their own child but I will never change my mind on the fact that their behaviour has been odd from the start including dare I say it, neglecting their children which let's face it caused the problem in the first place. In my view, they are bad parents, cold and manipulative people. I won't ever apologise for my view on this. I believe they are responible for what happened to their daughter by virtue of the fact that they neglected her. They caused this problem - it is completely down to them. You can't ignore the neglect issue - that is the root of this problem I am afraid!

I have always said 'innocent until proven guilty', but I personally do not believe they harmed their child and it would shake my belief in humanity to discover that they had. I find it difficult to accept that anyone could be so cold hearted as to do that and remain in the public eye without breaking down after all this time and they do not appear, from anything we have heard, to be psychopaths.

Personally I think all the time and effort should be put into finding Madeleine.I don't really care about a 'who done it' at the moment there will be all the time in the world to find that out later but as far as Madeleine is concerned time is passing and is being wasted.I wish I could look for her but I wouldn't know where to start but someone somewhere must have seen something or know something,I just wish they would find her!

I don't feel responsible for the McCann's behaviour at all. So if they were found guilty, I would feel sad and sorrowful, because what on earth would drive parents to do something so awful?
Yes, I know it happens. But I do believe strongly that you are innocent until proven guilty, and the witchunt on this site is very distressing. I also get angry that it takes away from the fact that there is a missing child, and people are quite comfortable talking about her parent's sex life etc. and why? Just because they can.
So I would be surprised, sad that the situation developed and sorrowful for Madeleine and her siblings.
But that's it, I think.
I don't have much faith in human nature - I've been let down too many times in my life and nothing surprises me. But I do believe in providing proper evidence, and I don't like kicking someone when they're down.

No one is ever proven innocent.
But regardless, no matter what the outcome is this pair have handled the whole thing more like a product launch and have acted very callously.
I didn't consider them guilty of actually killing their child - I consider them guilty of neglect (an issue I find hard to forget - if they hadn't gone out to dinner none of this would have happened) and guilty of a badly advised publicity circus which offends my eyes and ears.

OT: i have just found an only quote in this case i would happily sign anytime, from a former Brit detective Mark Williams-Thomas. now could someone in charge do what this guy says so that we can all move on?
lexy: the issue here is that neglect IS vital component of the whole thing, and all the armchair whodunnit is beyond common sense. i would admit if i'd made a mistake, however i haven't sunk as low to produce rubbish murder/non-murder theories. from my point of view i have made up my mind already, and i am not wrong: i am not a parent just a bloody babysitter but i know about priorities. anyway, the real problem is any debate on here has long lost any meaning what with fighting, bullying, maniacs' deductions and allegations. a reasonable academic discussion without no hysterical outburts, anyone? not on here, am afraid ;) thumbs down, pronto!
