got attacked by my other neighbors dog (neighbor 2). neighbor 1's dog is a daschaund mix. and neighbor 2s dog is a rodesian ridgeback (sp?. well neighbor 2s dog jumped the fence and attacked neighbor 1s dog. (the dog is always getting out. i witnessed the dog getting attacked 2 times in a matter of a couple minutes. i ran over there and got the dog to stop. it seems to have a broken leg and it had punctures all over its body. none of my neighbors were home so i went to bring the dog to the vet myself.. as i was about to leave my neighbor (1) pulled up and i told him everything that happened. so obviously this dog (neighbor 2s dog) is not safe to be roaming around! my dogs are all small and i know that this dog could eat my dogs alive. i called animal control. and they basically said that the guy whose dog got attacked had to report it, but hte thing is it is his brothers dog (neighbor 1 &2 are brothers)i know hes not going to report his brother-this dog is not safe! what should i do?!

Call the police. Tell them there is a viscious dog loose and you are terrified. Then if they ignore you call the alderman. Then the mayor. Then the city council president. And finally call the press. Ridgebacks are guard dogs. This is news. Get a video camera and tell everyone what animal control said. Next time animal control won't dare ignore you.

Raise awareness about their laziness and poor job performance. They must respond.

I personally will not tolerate lazy civil servants. I would do everything imaginable to make them wish they had answered the first time I called.

Report again that there is a dangerous dog in the neighborhood that you have witnessed attacking another dog. Say you've seen the dog around unleashed and that you FEEL threatened for your safety, as well as the safety of your dogs. Tell them how your ability to enjoy your home and environment has been compromised because of this dog roaming around. Hopefully, that will get some appropriate response from animal control. Also, call EVERY time you see the dog unleashed. Be a bug! Get your point across. You should set aside the fact that the two neighbors are brothers, because if you mention that to the Animal Control they will think that you are just butting into other peoples business. Concentrate on how YOU feel threatened, and how YOUR dogs are at risk, potentially that is.
Its unfortunate that this situation involves family, and that these circumstances will get in the way of the safety of your whole neighborhood. You must remember that this IS important, and IS urgent. Dont wait until it's too late. Don't wait to call until after you have dug the grave of your own dog (hate to be blunt, but it unfortunately happens TOOO often. We have had similar situations in our own neighborhood, involving our own dog sadly enough. There is no silver lining to a cloud like this, No matter who's dog is the predator or prey.)

Get off the internet and call, Right Now! cmon.

Have you tried talking to neighbor #2 and voicing your concerns about his dog? If that is a lost cause then the only thing you can do is call animal control the next time you see it loose.
Was the pup with all the puncture wounds and broken leg ok? Did he get vet care?

If the dog is roaming you can still report that. Roaming is against the law. Keep an eye out and always be close by to your dogs. If you can, talk to neighbor 2 about keeping his dog contained. If he doesn't cooperate report the roaming dog as soon as you see him loose.

Call the police. You should also be able to submit a complaint about the dog, especially because you live in the neighborhood.
